All of my classes that day went by quite fast, meaning that my first Quidditch practice was merely thirty minutes away and I would be lying if I said I felt prepared.
It was a lot of pressure, and no matter how many times Cedric reassured me that it would be fine, and it didn't matter if I messed up, I still worried.
At least I had time to practice before the match itself.
As soon as my classes finished, I got changed into my Quidditch uniform and spent a couple minutes stretching and mentally preparing myself. I wasn't in the best state of mind for it today, but there was no backing out now.
I checked the time and realized that I only had a few minutes until it started, meaning that I should start walking down to the Quidditch pitch. The least I can do is not be late on my first day.
When I neared the pitch, I could see that most of the team was already there and beginning to warm up while waiting for the rest.
"Aurelia!" Cedric called out as he spotted me, a grin on his face.
I wasn't sure if he was expecting to not see me or something, but he looked pleasantly surprised.
"I'm not late, am I?" I questioned as I jogged over, grabbing my broom as I glanced around at the pitch, my nerves increasing by the second.
He shook his head, "No, don't worry, we are still waiting on two more."
Right as he said it, two more voices came from behind us, meaning that it was time to start.
Cedric beckoned for everyone to group around him, and it amazed me how much everyone immediately listened; they respected him.
"Alright, we're going to divide into two teams of three. For the first half, you are going to have one from your team sit in the goal, while the other two attempt to score as many points as possible. This is an exercise for our chasers since we have a new chaser with us, beaters you will get your practice in the second half."
One Cedric explained and made sure there were no problems, he then moved onto the teams.
"Team A is Tamsin, Anthony, and Herbert." He read off his parchment that he held in front of him, "Team B is Malcolm, Aurelia, and Maxine."
Malcolm and Maxine walked over to stand by my side, friendly smiles on their face to try and make me feel welcome.
As soon as the teams were announced, we all mounted our brooms and everyone flew into the air, my heart racing as soon as my legs lifted off the ground.
I wasn't particularly afraid of heights, but I was afraid of falling. It was a dangerous sport, everyone knew that.
Once we got enough height, we all took our positions, Maxine being our keeper.
"Remember, this practice is about learning to pass between yourselves, it is about teamwork!" Cedric reminded us before blowing his whistle.
The Quaffle launched into the air and we all immediately darted forwards, Malcolm being the first to grab it, indicating to me that I needed to push forwards.
I slid past Tamsin, calling out to Malcolm to get his attention.
As soon as he spotted me, he launched the ball in my direction and I kept my eyes on it until it landed in my hands, giving me the green light to go.
I then dropped down in an attempt to get past their other chaser, Anthony.
But he was too quick, and I realized I was going to have to pass it back. So, I twisted around and scanned the pitch for Malcolm, my eyes enlarging when I spotted him nearing the scoring area, his arm held out above him.
