Dean sat across from Roman at the restaurant, he had never been here before, he wasn't a fancy restaurant kind of guy, he lived off of fast food from drive-throughs when he didn't feel like cooking for himself. To him, if the restaurant's napkins weren't made of paper and they didn't have a drive through then they were too fancy for him. He had never liked places like this, he always felt uncomfortable and out of place, like everyone was secretly judging him. He had only agreed to come here tonight because this was where Roman had wanted to go, so even though he would literally want to be any-damn-where else, he had agreed. They had already ordered their food and were waiting for it, so Dean tried his damnedest to hide his unease, but he couldn't stop his nervous fidgeting, something he's always had and hated with a freaking passion. He sighed, as he looked around the busy restaurant, wiping his hands on his thighs, why the hell did this shit freak him out so damn bad?
"So, I was thinking, since you let me pick where we went for dinner, you could choose what we do after?" Roman said smiling, breaking into Dean's thoughts.
"Oh, uh, yeah, sure, I'll think about it while we're eating and I'll let...wait, you're doing this because I'm uncomfortable, aren't you?" Dean asked, smiling too.
"Busted." Roman said smiling, making them both laugh. "Let's get to know each other."
"Oh, uh, w-what did you want to know?" Dean asked nervously, as he quickly took a drink of his water.
"Are you okay, Dean, you seem nervous?" Roman asked concerned. "Is...is it me? Did I say or do something that..."
"No, no, I'm sorry, it's just I don't like talking about my past, I kinda like to forget about it." Dean answered, sighing, cutting him off. "I probably sound crazy or something, right?" He said, staring at the table.
"No, not at all, Dean." Roman said smiling, Dean looked up and smiled back at him, grateful for his understanding. "Alright, why don't you tell me what you like to do when you're not working and being the Car King that you are?" He asked, changing the subject.
"Car King, huh?" Dean said smirking, at a smiling Roman. "I like it, I think I'll get that put on my name tag at work." He added, making them both laugh.
"So, what do you do when you're not working?" Roman repeated smiling.
"Well, I like candlelit dinners, long walks on the beach at sunset, and..."
"Cute, Ambrose, very cute, but I'm serious." Roman said, smiling, cutting him off, as he gently hit Dean in the arm.
"I know, Rome, I'm just having some fun with you." Dean said, still smiling. "Look, is this a date or an interview?" He added.
"A date." Roman replied, feeling like an idiot, Dean obviously didn't want to talk about himself and it was pretty damn clear that he wasn't having a good time, like freaking usual, Roman was blowing it.
"Okay, let's do something different, huh? Let's just stop doing what everyone else does on first dates and do our own thing, huh?" Dean suggested, realizing what was happening.
"Okay, so what do we do?" Roman agreed, smiling.
"Let's just have fun, let's do and talk about whatever we feel like at the moment, okay? No more planning the date, deal?" Dean said smiling, as he held out his hand to Roman.
"Deal." Roman agreed, smiling, as he shook Dean's hand. "I'm sorry, I always do this, I..."
"Nope, I declare this a shit-free date." Dean said, smiling, cutting him off. "We made a deal, remember, just do the complete opposite of what you'd normally do."
