Officer Dean Ambrose angrily put the young, handcuffed man into the back of his patrol car, before he touched his tender left eye. Thanks to the young punk in his car, he was going to have a black damn eye tomorrow. His partner, Officer Matt Greene, was talking to the owner of the store that the little shit had tried and failed to rob. While he waited for his partner to be finished, Dean radioed into the station that they had finished the call, before he examined the damage done to his eye.
20 minutes later, they arrived back at the station, Dean and Matt got out of the car first, then Dean, smiling, opened the back door. He grabbed ahold of the punk and pulled him out of the car, accidentally on purpose, banging the asshole's head hard off the door.
"Damn, Ambrose, I guess he didn't hear you when you warned him to watch his head getting out." Matt said smiling.
"They never do." Dean agreed, smiling too as they went inside.
Later, Dean was changing out of his uniform when his former partner and best friend, Officer Roman Reigns came into the locker room with his partner Officer Dolph Ziggler. Dean ignored them and continued changing, his back to them, the tension in the room so thick you could cut it with a knife. The silence was broken when Officer Richard Moore came into the room and spoke, smiling.
"Hey, guys, I'm going to the hospital to visit Seth, wanna come with me?" Richard asked. "I already talked to Matt and he's coming."
"Yeah, I'll come." Dolph agreed smiling.
"Me too." Roman added smiling too.
"Awesome, what about you, Ambrose, you up for a little trip?" Richard asked.
"Nope." Dean answered as he finished changing and grabbed his things before he slammed his locker shut and left the room.
"Ambrose!" Roman called out, Dean stopped walking as Roman joined him in the hallway.
"What, Reigns?" Dean demanded bitterly.
"You're still doing this, huh?" Roman questioned sighing as he crossed his arms.
"Doing what?"
"This whole I don't need or want anyone in my life bullshit." Roman replied.
"You know, Reigns, you really suck at pep talks." Dean said bitterly.
"Look, Ambrose, I'm trying really hard to understand you, but I can't for the life of me, figure out why you'd want to push people who truly care about you away, why you keep everyone at a distance." Roman said gently. "Why are..."
"Okay, you know what, Reigns? I've had enough of this feel-good moment or whatever the hell this is we're having here." Dean said annoyed, cutting him off. "I'm going home."
"Ambrose, I don't know why you're so hellbent on keeping people from getting too close to you. Dammit, Dean, what are you so afraid of?"
"Alright, I'm going to stop you right there, big man, I'm afraid of nothing and no one." Dean said angrily. "I'm leaving."
Dean left the station and went to his car, unlocking it, he got in and threw his bag onto the backseat. He started his car and pulled out of the parking lot, as he drove, the argument with Roman replayed over and over in his mind. Soon he arrived home and parked, he got out, grabbing his bag, before he went to his front door and unlocked it. Going into his dark house, he dropped his bag by the door and went into the kitchen to grab a beer, before he returned to the living room. He sat down on the couch in the dark and stared out the window as he drank his beer. Damn, Reigns, for making him feel like shit just because he doesn't want to be fucking friends with Rollins and Ziggler.
