The sun sunk beneath the horizon, leaving a bright pink flush of colour in the sky that blended into navy and lavender, and finally black. The full moon shone like a beacon, illuminating the stars as if they were diamonds scattered across the velvet sky. A cool breeze whispered through the night air, carrying the promise of a coming storm whose low rumble could be heard ominously in the distance. Seth shivered and pulled up the collar of his jacket, sighing, before he turned and looked towards the looming building of the asylum.

It had been hours since the Detectives and their team had left and with that smug pretentious asshole, Dr. Stone, in jail, the asylum's heads needed someone to step up and take charge while they handled the fallout. They had asked Seth and Roman and they agreed to do it without hesitation. They both felt that they needed to do this, do all they could to help find Dean before he killed more innocent people. It felt like a heavy burden, but it was one they were willing to carry.

After being put in charge, their first order of business was to hire a clean-up crew to come clean up the mess. While that happened, Seth then turned to his staff for a head count of survivors and a tally of the dead. Then he moved through the ward, gently administering medication to calm those still in shock, trying to make them feel safer and help them sleep. Seth had no idea what he was going to do, in his entire career he had never had to deal with something like this.

Yeah, he had seen things in his career, he's dealt with extremely violent patients and there have been violent incidents among patients and directed at staff but nothing compared to this. Of course, the massacre could have been prevented if the damn plan they had put into action had been followed. As far as Seth was concerned, Stone was more responsible for the massacre than Dean. After all, it was Stone who had decided that a bonus in his wallet was more important than someone's life.

After being assigned to replace Stone, Seth had refused to work out of the prick's office and asked about his old office. It wasn't being used, so Seth decided to work from there. When Seth stepped into his old office it felt like he'd been transported back in time. Everything was exactly the same as he had left it. Dust covered everything like a thick blanket, cobwebs hung from every corner and the entire room was in utter disarray. He quickly called for cleaning supplies and began cleaning up. Scrubbing and polishing away the dirt of the past few years was therapeutic; Seth hated messes of any kind and needed a clean workspace.

Afterward, he unpacked his things, then headed out with Roman to do his rounds. The medication had worked its magic on many of them, who were now relaxed and even sleeping. Some of the patients Seth and Roman had known before they left were still there and remembered them. When their rounds were done, Seth ordered Roman to get some rest, but knowing sleep wouldn't come for him, he instead decided to go outside for some fresh air and he's been out here now for the last half an hour.

"Can't sleep?" Roman's soft voice spoke from behind him as he came outside.

"No." Seth answered sighing. "Being back here brings back a lot of old memories, some I thought I'd never have to face again. Why aren't you sleeping?"

"I can't stop thinking about what happened." Roman replied quietly.

"We knew he was capable of violence, Rome, he had killed before." Seth reminded him sighing again.

"Yeah, but he was getting better, Seth, I... I can't believe he just snapped and did this. What the hell would have caused him to do something like this?"

"We left." Seth stated firmly. "We left him all alone, we took away his stability."

"That was six damn years ago, Seth." Roman reminded him.
