As the first rays of the early morning sun cast a soft golden glow on the distant tree line, Dean smiled as he looked around, at peace being surrounded by the serene beauty of nature. The still lake glistened in the light of the cloudless sky and birds sang their beautiful wake-up song from the tall trees. He took a deep breath and savoured the peacefulness that always filled him when he was outdoors.
Dean stretched his legs out in front of him as he drank his second cup of coffee on the grass by the water. He remembered waking up earlier that morning between his two brothers, but strangely enough, he didn't have a hangover; some kind of divine intervention, he figured, since you couldn't get drunk in Heaven. On leaving the bed, he noticed that all the empty beer bottles had disappeared too – another strange thing about this new afterlife, he mused.
He had left the room and realized that it was just starting to get light outside, so he decided to make a coffee, sit outside, and watch the sunrise. He sighed as he stared out across the calm water, watching as the animals woke up and started their day with their breakfast. He knew none of this was real, but for the next two damn weeks, it was to them. He was glad that Cecil was dead and that things in Heaven had changed for the better, he was proud to say that he and his brothers had played a major part in it. But, knowing he would have to say goodbye to his brothers when the two weeks were over made him wish that none of it had happened.
He had no idea how he was going to tell Seth and Roman that they had to go back to Earth without him. His death had already caused them so much pain, and now he was going to do it again. He felt tears stinging his eyes as he stayed silent, unable to bear the thought of breaking their hearts. Throwing his head back, and closing his eyes, he willed himself not to think about it for a little while longer; he wanted to savor this time with them. Suddenly, something brushed his leg. Opening his eyes, he saw a small grey bunny nibbling on the grass by his feet and smiled in spite of himself.
"Hey, little one." Dean said smiling as he slowly reached a hand out to pet it.
The little bunny didn't move or show any fear as Dean slowly began petting its soft fur, it just continued eating its breakfast.
"You made a friend?" Roman's voice spoke from behind him as he and Seth joined Dean and sat down on the grass beside him with their own coffees.
"Yeah, I think he likes me." Dean replied smiling as they watched the bunny move closer to Dean before it jumped into his lap without hesitation.
"I'd say he's your best friend now." Seth said as they laughed.
"You can relax, Rollins, you both can be my best friends." Dean teased as they laughed again.
"Nah, he's all yours, little guy." Seth said smiling as he leaned close to the bunny and petted it, making all three laugh again.
"You were up early, babe." Roman said as he leaned against his boyfriend.
"Yeah, I woke up and decided to watch the sunrise." Dean replied.
"Wait, Dean, 'I love my sleep', Ambrose, was up voluntarily to watch the sunrise?" Seth asked, shocked.
"Yeah, why is that so hard to believe?" Dean asked smiling, confused.
"Who are you and what have you done with our Lunatic?" Seth asked as he laughed.
"How'd you like an early morning dunk in the lake, smartass?" Dean threatened smiling.
"Seriously though, are you sure you're okay?" Roman asked.
"Yes, dammit." Dean said frustrated, accidentally scaring the bunny, who jumped off Dean's lap and into Seth's. "Shit, sorry, little guy." He said gently as he petted the bunny.
