When Monday morning rolled around, Stevie found herself more jittery than usual heading to the studio. Karen led the way as the two of them walked from the car to the front door of the rental house. Stevie hadn't been here since Thursday night with Lindsey, and they hadn't spoken since, neither one of them quite sure what the rules were now. As she and Karen walked in, the distant chatter of John, Mick, and Lindsey came from the living room.
"Morning, Steves! Morning, Karen!" Mick cheered.
Stevie's eyes went straight to the soundboard, immediate visions of Lindsey pleasuring her on top of its many controls entering her head and making her blush. "Hi guys," she smiled, looking around the room before she met Lindsey's eye. She wasn't sure what he would be like today, but so far, he seemed to be smiling at her like a lovesick puppy.
"Hey Stevie," he said softly, looking down at his feet to try to play it cool.
"You guys get a lot accomplished on Thursday night?" Mick asked curiously.
"Uh yeah," she answered nervously, "Went well, right Linds?"
"Great two-part harmonies," he smiled, "I think it was some of our best work yet."
She blushed, biting the inside of her cheek, "Oh, yeah?"
Karen studied the demeanor of her boss curiously, something had shifted between she and Lindsey - everyone in the room was suddenly able to see and feel that. In their own little world, Stevie and Lindsey continued to exchange coy glances at one another, oblivious to anyone else noticing.
"Stevie," Mick began, "Didn't you get my voicemail? We didn't really need you to come in today. Since Chris is still away we're not doing any vocals today, Lindsey and I are just going over production."
"Oh, I didn't get your message," she lied. She had gotten it. But there was no way she wasn't coming in today to see Lindsey after their night together.
Karen sighed, "Should we head out? We can knock off some of the other stuff on our list for this week."
"No!" She blurted out, "I mean, we're here already. Let's just listen for a bit?"
"Listen for a bit?" Karen questioned.
Stevie gave her assistant a look before sitting down on the couch. With a huff, Karen opened her laptop and sat beside her reluctantly. Lindsey couldn't help but smile, wondering if Stevie was staying just to get the chance to talk to him. They continued stealing small glances as everyone talked, everything in the room suddenly a reminder of their night together.
"I'm going to go make some coffee," Stevie announced standing up, "Anyone want any?"
Karen and Mick both nodded. Lindsey looked around, taking his chance, "Me too. I can help you, Steves."
She grinned as he followed her out of the room and into the kitchen, Karen rolling her eyes at their lack of subtlety. Following her around the kitchen counter, Lindsey pulled her back by her waist until she was spinning around in his arms with a giggle.
"Hi," he whispered.
"Hi," she smiled, "You're in need of some coffee?"
"Nope."
She squealed as he pushed her back against the counter, his arms trapping her body as they propped themselves up on the marble surface behind her. "Lindsey," she warned, "We're not alone."
"I thought about you all weekend," he growled, ignoring her warning.
She raised her brow, "Could be dangerous."
"Very."
"Our best work yet?" She questioned with a smile, stealing a quick kiss of his lips.
He pulled back, looking into her eyes, "You....you called me...daddy," he bit his lip like he was telling a secret.
