A/N: This is just a very short update because of the holiday week. Wanted to share a little something more for you though before Thanksgiving. Grateful for all of you for reading and keeping this one so fun ❤️ more to come on Friday
A sigh escaped her lips, his naked body spooning hers tighter as he waited for her to say anything at all. Instead, her fingers traced tiny patterns up and down his arms. Holding his hand up to her lips, she peppered light kisses across his fingers.
"Stephanie," he whispered into her ear, unable to wait a second longer. "Did you hear—"
"Yes," she interrupted him, "I heard you."
"Oh."
She dropped his hand, turning around in his embrace so their noses were now just barely touching. As their eyes fell into another stare off, her finger traced his lower lip painfully slowly.
"How could I be mad?" She finally smiled in a whisper, "when despite my very best efforts, I love you too."
A sigh of relief left his lips, his stomach settling from the momentary high jitters of panic it just embarked on. He had no idea what this all meant, but she didn't need to say much more for now. Those words were enough for this quiet, unexpected moment between them. If he could, he would lock them in this room forever.
"That was crazy hot, you know that, right? You just...slipped in here out of nowhere and...Christ. Where did that come from?"
She bit her lip with a smile, pressing her backside further against him, "I just wanted you."
"You can always have me, you know that right?"
"Of course I do," she giggled, "Always have."
"What do we do now?" He nibbled at her ear, nuzzling further into the nape of her neck.
"I think we go finish our album."
After twenty more minutes of mindless cuddling, they realized they needed to get back to reality. Stevie wrapped herself snuggly in her loose, draped shawl as she climbed down the staircase and back into the living room casually. She pretended to be fixing one of her nails as she sat back down on the couch, looking up to find three sets of eyes glued to her.
"What?" She asked, faking a yawn.
"Stevie, if you think the two of you were being quiet, you both need hearing aids sooner than we all thought," John rolled his eyes. "Some of us were trying to ACTUALLY sleep, you know."
A blush ran across her cheeks immediately, "I don't know what you're talking about..."
"Oh save it, Steves," Christine scoffed, "I don't know who was squeaking louder up there, the mattress springs or you."
Mick and John laughed while Stevie stared at them all in shock and horror. Before she could respond, Lindsey emerged from the staircase now too - pulling the same casual act Stevie had just put on minutes ago.
"Oh, everyone's awake," he remarked as he walked back into the room.
"Thanks to the two of you, yes, we are," John groaned.
Lindsey's eyes bolted to Stevie who shook her head, "They all heard us napping."
Mick laughed, "Why don't my naps sound like that? The two of you have never been good at being quiet, not sure why you still haven't learned that by now."
Christine turned to him with a laugh, "Christ, remember the echoing of the Mirage chateau? Not even my earplugs could save me."
"Okay, okay, enough!" Stevie interjected. "Nobody heard ANYTHING. Right, Lindsey?"
He nodded, "Right, and let's keep it that way?" He looked to John specifically.
Mick grinned, taking a puff of the joint in his hand, "We've covered for you two idiots for what? 40 years now? In the vault."
Stevie smiled, shaking her head and meeting eyes with Lindsey across the room. They exchanged a knowing look. There were a lot of words that needed to be said right now. But they all needed to wait.
"Can we just finish this fucking album finally?" She grinned.
