"Hi baby," Stevie peeked her head into Lily's room, "Can I come in?"

"Hey mom...yeah."

With a smile, Stevie made her way into the pink room, extremely relieved she and her daughter had been on better terms since their fight a couple weeks ago. Lily sat doodling in her notebook, Stevie making herself comfortable on the foot of the bed.

"You're home early today," Lily remarked as she put the finishing touches on her drawing.

"We're wrapping the album up finally, just one week left, it's exciting."

"That's cool. And then you'll be home?"

"Yes," Stevie smiled, "Sorry I haven't been home right when you get home from school lately. Or maybe you like having the space..."

Lily looked up at her with a smile, "No, I miss hanging out after school mom. Aunt Lori is fun but you know she's not as good of a gossip as you are."

Stevie laughed, "What's the latest gossip?"

"Oh my gosh, so much. Oh, and mom? Can I sleep over at Leelee's house on Friday?"

"Leelee Buckingham?"

Lily snorted a laugh, "Yeah. Do we know another one?"

"Oh," Stevie was caught off guard. The last thing she wanted to do was start another fight with her daughter. But she also really dreaded the idea of her having slumber parties at Kristen and Lindsey's house even more. "Um, are her parents okay with that?"

"Yeah, she's having a couple girls over for a sleepover."

"Oh how fun," Stevie stammered. "Sure honey, of course."

"Yaaaay!!" Lily cheered.

Stevie clutched onto Lily's overnight bag in her lap as she rode in the passenger seat of the car. Lily was buzzing in the backseat, catching her and Karen up on everything that happened at school that day and the rundown of all the girls attending Leelee's sleepover tonight. Stevie attempted to keep an excited smile on her face, burrowing down the nerves that came from her daughter being under the same roof as Kristen, Lindsey, and their kids for a night.

"Please be on your best behavior, Lily," Stevie said as the car pulled up to the driveway.

"I knoooow mom, I know."

"And you have the number to my new cell phone written down, right?"

"Yes, it would be even more helpful if I had a phone of my own. Everyone else does, you know."

Stevie sighed, "Well you're not like everybody else, honey, and isn't that special?"

Lily rolled her eyes in the backseat, which didn't go unnoticed by Stevie. Instead, she kept her mouth shut, looking down at the phone in her hands that she finally succumbed to getting. It was strictly "for emergencies," AKA, whenever Karen wasn't glued to her hip. She'd be lying if she didn't also specifically get it to have for tonight. Once Karen put the car in park, Lily's seatbelt flew off faster than a lightening bolt, Stevie speeding up to keep up with her.

"You don't have to walk me to the door you know," Lily sighed as Stevie followed her out of the car.

"Lily, I don't want to be rude."

They stood at the front door after ringing the bell, Stevie smoothing out Lily's hair to calm her nerves. Seconds later, Lindsey opened the door and stood in the doorway, an apprehensive smile on his face as he met Stevie's eye.
