Jane walked down the street, she passed a brown-haired lady and gave her a small smile, faintly recognizing her as one of her brother's regulars.
She quickly knocked on the door of Thomas's shop, waiting a few seconds before peaking inside, "Thomas?" Jane called, stepping onto the wooden floor.
"AUNTIE JANE!" Mae immediately ran over, almost knocking Jane over with a hug.
"Mae!" Jane smiled and ruffled her niece's hair, "How have you been?"
"Amazing!" Mae looked up at Jane, her big blue eyes shining in the dim light of the fire.
"Jane?" Thomas entered the room, "What are you doing here?"
"I told you I was going to stop by soon." Jane smiled and walked farther into the house.
"Ah yes," Thomas smiled, "it's great to see you again." He pulled her into a hug.
"Likewise." She smiled, "I can't stay for long though, I have to get back to the Tudors."
"Auntie Jane?" Mae clutched onto janes dress, "Is it true that you're a teacher now?"
"Yes, I teach the Tudor kids."
"Are they nice?"
"Well..." Jane smiled a little at the complicated relationship she had with the kids, "I would say so, yes."
The Tudor kids could be a handful, but they knew where Jane drew the line and mostly stayed on her good side. Mary was the eldest and the most formal, she always wore her hair in a tight bun and held herself to a high standard. Elizabeth –or Lizzie as she liked to be called– was a little reckless, but she just seemed to just be in the wrong place at the wrong time, but she was good at remembering her manners when reminded.
Edward –who Jane was the closest with– was calm and well-read, he was quick to please and very polite. Henry –named after his father– was, there was no other way to describe him, a smart ass. He always found a way of getting onto Jane's nerves and his hair was always styled to one side, like he was saying Im better than all of you and I know it, or if he was older he would be saying Im way too sexy for this.
"Im sure they can be a handful." Thomas smiled and picked Mae up, holding her in his arms, "Make yourself at home, I'm going to make us some tea."
Jane nodded and smiled, she hadn't seen her brother in a good while and looked forward to reconnecting.
