Cathy turned into an alleyway as soon as she could. And to her surprise the cloaked figure who had warned her was there, walking at a quick pace towards the pub.

"Hey!" Cathy grabbed their arm and the person spun around, a book and quill falling to the ground, "Who are you?" Cathy tried to see under their hood but the person wouldn't let her.

"That is none of your concern."

"I believe it is." Cathy tried to pull their hood back but they quickly ducked, grabbing the quill as they did so.

The book still lay on the ground, in between the both of them. Cathy stared at the person, for a moment they stayed still, watching each other. Until the cloaked person lunged for the book, but Cathy was faster she grabbed the book and stepped back. Her rival seemed to be weighing their options.

"What's this?" Cathy held up the book, examining the cover, which had a 'T' and part of some sort of drawing engraved into the cover.

"Put the book down." The person's voice was harsh.

Cathy didnt listen and watched the person's body language as she slowly opened the book. She managed to read a single sentence, The Author walked towards the supposed witch, grabbing the book from the older woman's hands. The person lunged again and grabbed the book, Cathy was surprised and let them go this time. They rounded the corner and vanished from sight, Cathy didnt run after them.

What did the sentence mean? Was it related to what had just happened? Or was it nothing? The book was obviously important, but why it was, well, that she didnt know.

But the word Author did ring a bell, the way it was used couldn't be a coincidence. Cathy vaguely remembered a story her mother used to tell her when she was younger, something about authors, and how they played a role in the plot of a story.

So, with that thought Cathy made her way to the nearby library. Intent on researching this supposed Author, if there was even such a thing.
