Anne pulled her hood up, covering her dark hair which had been styled into two space buns. She wore her usual outfit, but with the addition of a new pair of boots– best not to ask how she got them.
The boots were a size too big so Anne had to focus half her attention on not tripping. She rounded a corner and the Cat and Mouse came into view, which was the pub where Kitty worked. Anne decided she would stop by, since she hadn't seen Kitty all morning, so she just assumed her cousin had had a late night and early morning. But she still wanted to stop by, and possibly grab and pint as well.
Anne passed a hooded figure, she couldn't quite make out their face but she took note of the fancy quill they held, along with a nice-looking book. Anne quickly shook her head, she shouldn't be targeting people, at least not yet, she knew that Kitty hated it when she panned something and didnt tell her.
So Anne simply smiled and continued walking, the person nodded their acknowledgment and then turned off onto an alleyway. That – unbeknownst to Anne– lead around the pub, where the person could look in through a back window.
"KITTY, ARE YOU ALIVE??" Anne yelled as soon as she entered the pub, not bothering to close the door behind her.
"Anne!" Kitty peeked out from behind the bar, "Be quiet." She gestured to two people sitting at a table.
"Sorry." Anne smiled at the two female knights.
"No problem." One with an accent nodded and turned back to talking with her companion.
"Hey!" Anne practically bounced over to where Kitty had claimed a table, out of sight of the tavern's other occupants.
"What's up?" Kitty asked, pulling her hair into a high ponytail as she did so.
"I just thought I would stop by." Anne smiled and flipped her hair over her shoulder, "Toss, toss."
Kitty rolled her eyes but did the same, "Toss toss." She smiled and the two cousins shared a laugh.
"Oh!" Anne's eyes widened, "Do the thing!"
"That thing?" Kitty raised an eyebrow.
"Yes!"
"For someone who claims to be an adult you sure are childish."
"Hey!" Anne playfully hit Kitty, not noticing the way she flinched at the contact, "Im more of an adult than you."
"Yeah, yeah." Kitty sighed, knowing this wasn't a battle she could win.
"Now do it!" Anne ordered.
Kitty stood and ran a hand through her ahir before parting it and putting one-half of her hair on each shoulder, "Okay," Kitty sighed, but smiled, "Toss toss." She tossed her hair back and then let out a fake laugh,
"Stopppppp," She drew out this word, waving her hand, then she pointed at Anne, you, she mouthed and then put a hand to her ear, call me, Kitty then did a little shake and sat back down.
She blushed when she saw the other two women in the pub staring, "I'm never doing that in public again."
"It was so cute!" Anne laughed, "You looked like Glinda."
"Sure, I totally looked like the God Witch Of The South."
Now, the cloaked figure was watching this whole time, from their new spot at the window. So, they decided they were going to move the plot forward a little bit. They placed their quill down and tucked the book into a safe place.
And, dear reader, you are probably wondering what this book is about. And to answer that question, this book is –there's no other word to describe it– powerful. In more way than one.
But all you need to know right now is that this person, is writing in this book. And with each word the cover slowly, ever so slowly, is being engraved with letters, and a rose. What this person is writing, well, your guess is as good as mine.
So, reader, now we have this person, walking into the pub, going up the stairs, and knocking on a door. You might be thinking, why are they doing this? But when you see who answers, well, you might figure it out, or get more confused. It really depends on how you view the following events.
