Chapter 13

Matt knew the whole time. He knew and only now he was doing something about it. It was eating him alive. He should have gone to the trailer the moment he connected the dots and beat him till he couldn't function by himself. Thats what he would usually do when it came to children hurt. He couldnt stand it but this was different. If he did what he wanted to do to Harrison cole, it wouldn't be fair to Jasper who would have to take care of him after that.

That didn't matter now. He and Caroline’s sister, Sophie drove in an undercover car, driving a few minutes behind Jasper and his father. His own heart was racing and at that moment, that was the thing he focused on, his steady heartbeat and keeping his rage at bay. They pulled in, only now flicking their sirens on. Sophia pulled up to the trailer and climbed out, pulling out her gun and clicking the safety off.

“Stay out here,” she stated quietly, watching a few other squad cars pull up and park around them. Matt nodded, standing now behind their car. All he could do right now is wait.

Sophie walked up to the door and her eyes widened, hearing Jasper trying to fight back. She broke the door down and yelled, grabbing Harrison by the back of the jacket and yanking him off. Jasper gasped and scrambled out of the trailer, other cops going past him to deal with Harrison.

“Get the fuck off me!” Harrison screamed, getting tackled as Jasper got onto his feet. “Get back here you fucking faggot-”

“Jasper!” Matt called, his brows furrowed as he heard his course breathing. Matts voice broke Jaspers attention from Harrison and he turned, booked it over and gripped onto him tight; heaving as he began sobbing.

Matt held him close, his arms wrapped around him. His hands gripped onto his shirt, running his hand up to behind his head. “It’s okay, its okay jasper you’re gonna be okay…” he whispered, repeating the phrase as they listened to Harrison yelling and screaming as he was dragged away to a police car. Jasper couldn’t watch, burying his face in Matt’s shoulder as the police cars rolled out.

The next few days were a transitional period. Matt let Jasper and Lizzie stay with him as he spoke with DCFS, letting them sleep in his bed when he slept on the couch. Every morning, it was all adjusting. It was mostly him and Lizzie for the first day. They let Jasper sleep. Matt wasn't used to being around kids, especially teenagers. This was all foren.

Matt and Lizzie laughed as they struggled together to make lunch, their laughs echoing up to the studio ceiling. The bedroom door creaked open, Jasper hobbling out. He yawned and rubbed his eyes.

“You’re finally up!” Lizzie smiled. “Want a sandwich?” she asked. Jasper nodded, walking over to the kitchen.

“What time is it?” he croaked, looking over at Matt and Lizzie as she grabbed the things she already put away.

“11?” Matt asked. “Last time I checked,” he stated, grabbing a glass and filling it with water before handing it to Jasper. He smiled a bit and took it.

“Thanks,” he stated before drinking it down. Lizzie put together a sandwich with lightning speed and put it on the counter for him beside her seat.

“Wait, Matt, you can tell us the news now,” She stated, sitting down. Jasper furrowed his brows.

“What news?” he asked, sitting down beside Lizzie. Matt sighed as he put the things away.

“A few things actually,” Matt began as he leaned against the counter. Jasper gulped slowly and groaned a bit. His neck was discolored and he noticed Lizzie struggled to look at him, at the bruising. “I talked to the DCFS agent that is in charge of your guy's file. Legally I can’t keep you till they look in on every aspect of my life to see if I can take care of you guys,” he stated. “It might take longer because,”
