"Who do you think you are, trying to kill this woman in broad daylight?" He pushed me out of the way before she could say anything more. Before she knew it the lady turned into an ugly-looking creature with a tail and horns, as her skin turned black and came running at her. She screamed as she stumbled back, landing on her backside. Evelyn tried to get up but couldn't because the thing was too fast, she tried to lay down and curl up in a ball she looked up, her pulse was racing from fear.
Now through, there are only three people before her, the demon nowhere to be seen. She looks between the three people as confusion settles in. A warmth caressing touched Evelyn's face startled her as she jolts up, taking in her unfamiliar surroundings. The girl from the alleyway jumps back with a damp cloth clearly caught off guard. The two men from before stand with their stare down at Evelyn, their faces not giving away any of their emotions.
"My name is Sophia, what is yours?" She hesitates before answering, and uneasy feeling from not knowing any of these people that stood before her. And from their previous meeting, she had no reason to feel safe or welcomed in their hospitality. "My name is Evelyn..." she looked away avoiding eye contact with Sophia. She walks up to the bed and sits down next to me "look I know you're scared but we're here to protect you." Evelyn nods, calming a little "I'm just scared right now I don't know what's going on," the slightly shorter man comes over gently, placing down a bowl of soup with a cup of water on the coffee table in front of her. He gives Evelyn a soft smile before he moves back out of the door he came from. She takes in the strangers looks, admiring him as Sophia notices the blush that's rising up in Evelyn's face. She gives her a playful nudge on the shoulder as she wiggles her brows in response. Trying to hold back a laugh, Evelyn just sticks her tongue out at Sophia.
"Stop trying to make me blush Sophia" Evelyn hides behind Sophia.
"You can't hide forever Evelyn" she smiles as she gets up from the bed, leaving her by herself. The man who gave her the soup comes back into the room, eyeing the vacant seat, before sitting down in it.
"Hi, I am Noah,"
"Are you doing alright?" She shakes her head no in response, unable to form any words from the lump in her throat.
Noah looks down for a while, playing with his hands, "well I'm here if you wanna talk. I'm sorry this is happening, but just don't understand how you can see us."
Sophia comes back into the room, crouching down beside Evelyn as she gazes over her face. "What is your name full name, maybe our mom might know something?"
"My name is Evelyn Novak, but I'm nobody particularly special. I grew up as an orphan."
Sophia's eyes widened, she ran out of the room. A short time later she returned with a slightly older woman. It was evident to see that she was Sophia's mother, they were very similar, it was uncanny. The woman walked towards Evelyn, looking her over a minute as the tears filled her eyes, threatening to spill over the edge.
She wrapped her arms around Evelyn was caught off-guard, but hesitantly she placed a hand in the middle of the woman's back. The lady backed away as her eyes roamed over Evelyn once more as a soft smile appeared on her face.
"It's so finally good to see you again."
Evelyn didn't know what was going on, she was thinking about how this lady possibly could have known her.
"I'm sorry. I am a friend of your birth parents. I helped in raising you until they were sent off to battle. They wanted some where safe for you and they knew I could provide you with that place." Evelyn was at a loss for words, unable to remember this woman or her parents. She sat in silence trying to piece together her life as her eyes started stinging, a single tear running down her cheek. Noah came back over with concern all over his face as he pulled her into his chest, soothing the aching feeling inside her.
"Where are they now?" Evelyn asked Sophia's mother.
"We don't know, they just disappeared, but how much do you know about us?"
"Only that I come from a king of angel warriors and the supernatural live amongst us," Evelyn remembers the series she was told about vampires, werewolves, and the demons.
The lady thinks for a little bit, "well I didn't want you to know any of this just yet, but we have to start training you. Your parents were the best of the best, so the whole underworld hates us." Evelyn was terrified, she didn't know anything else about this world until today.
"My name is Clara it's wonderful to see you again my dear." Evelyn smiles.
"Thank you for helping me," Clara then leaves the room as Sophia walks back over to me and Noah.
"You okay?" She sighs, as she sits on a chair next to the bed.
Evelyn thinks for a moment before paying attention to all the emotions running rampant inside of her. "My whole life, I thought I was a nobody. Turns out that I should be killing demons, but what if I'm not good enough?"
Sophia rubs her back, "I do the training and I am a great trainer I promise" Evelyn turns around and pulls her in for a hug.
"Thank you, that means a lot." Noah hugs them both with a smile, kissing both of their heads. A large grin spreads across her face, "oh so now you are acting like a gentleman, Evelyn how did you change him so quickly?"
They all break out in laughter, as Noah tackles Sophia into the bottom of Evelyn's bed, tickling her all over.
"This is payback for all the teasing."
Laughter fills the room as the three of them thrash about the bed. "Okay, okay I surrender," Sophia shouts, barely getting the words out by the fits of giggles coming from her.
