So I ran. I ran and ran, even when I became out of breathe I carried on going. Alexis had always - and I mean always - been there for me, so I was determined to return the favour.
I finally ended up at Uni, walking calmly down the hallway as if I hadn't just sprinted home.
I went straight into our room, shutting the door behind me. I didn't notice Alexis at first, and she didn't bother turning around to check who it was. She was sat on the window sill, staring out at nothing.
"Alexis?"
I got no reply, so instead I went and sat next to her. I noticed her eyes were blood shot and she had a stray tear running down her cheek as if it was in a race with itself.
"Hey," I said softly, putting my hand on hers that was resting on her knees. She shakes her head in reply; either she couldn't speak in fear of crying more or didn't want to talk about it. I attempt anyway, "talk to me."
She sniffles and puts her head in her hands. She's not properly crying but I'm aware that she could do any minute.
"I'm a good listener," I reassure her, softly smiling when she peaks her head out from her hands. Slowly, she sits up properly and faces me.
"I think Calum and I are over," she lets out a choked sob after saying it. My mouth forms the shake of an 'o'.
"What happened?"
She takes a deep breathe, "at the party, I was with Calum and we were dancing, we were both happy. He excused himself to go to the toilet and I stayed and waited for him. I waited for at least fifteen minutes and by then I was worried about him. I went out into the hallway an-and noticed him with another person - another girl - and they were talking. I was about to go over but when I turned back I saw them kissing. They kissed, right there in the hallway."
I was shocked. None of this sounded right. Calum was in love with Alexis and even a blind man could see that. Even in a drunk state, Calum should be able to stop himself when he has a girl like Alexis.
"Are you sure?" I ask, warily.
She looks up at me, a flicker of anger in her eyes. "What do you mean, are you sure? Of course I'm sure. Do you think I'd lie about this?"
"I didn't mean it like that," I reword my statement. "Are you sure that's what you saw? He could've just leaned closer to hear her over the music or something-"
"I'm sure!" She whisper-yells. I'm not sure why because it's only us in the room, but she may be losing her voice. "I saw it, it was lips to lips, her hands on the back of his head, his on the wall behind her back."
She has a grimace on her face. I ask, "did you talk about it?"
"Well after waking up in your bed, I thought maybe I could've imagined that as well as how I imagined me making out with Channing Tatum. So I spoke to him about it, but said I may have imagined it, yet he confessed that they did kiss. Before he could speak, I was out of there. I've avoided him since."
"He might've wanted to explain," I shrug, contemplating it. There has to be a way around this.
"Explain what? The ins and outs of how much fun he and her had playing tongue hockey?"
I furrow my eyebrows, "wait, so who was it?"
"I caught a small glimpse at her face," Alexis looks away from me, in disgust at the thought.
"And?"
"And let's just say that Cassie Bennett is even more of a bitch than we thought."

Later on, I head into a cafe place and get Alexis some soup and a large chocolate bar. I also get her a cup of tea. For the rest of the night, I comfort her and tell her that it'll be alright every time she cries.
She tells me stories of them being together; little things like the time they met(Alexis bumped into him and spilt coffee over his shirt so brought him new one), their first kiss(they were on a Ferris wheel with a group of friends but they got put next to each other and kissed when they were at the top) and the way he asked her out(he texted her even though they were sat beside each other in her living room).
She explains to me that she doesn't want to break up with him, she just doesn't want to stay with a guy who cheated on her either. She's in love with him, and doesn't think she ever won't be.
