I was so relieved when I finally got through to my Uncle over the phone on Sunday afternoon. I'd been trying a lot these past few days to call him but I'd constantly failed and ended up just hearing a repetitive line of pointless noise. I had so much to tell him.

"Sparky?" He says, almost surprised it was me although it would've shown up on his mobile. His voice was thicker than usual, as if he'd just woken up. Well, I guess I would've still been asleep if Alexis hadn't have woken me(it was 1:00pm).

"Sleeping in late?" I ask curiously.

I hear him yawn, then reply, "yeah, had a rough couple of nights."

I yawn straight after. Ugh. "Are you ill?"

"No, no, just tired," he chuckles in his morning voice. "How are you? We haven't spoken in ages! Why didn't you ring?"

"I did," I say reassuringly, "the call just wouldn't go through though."

"Weird," he replies. "What's going on there?"

"Not much, I've settled down really well though," I say, smiling at the memory. "I've made friends and, Theo, I have a boyfriend." My eyes are squeezed shut by the end of the sentence, awaiting his reply.

"Oh, Sparky, you know you can't date a human. It's-"

"No, no, Uncle, he's one of us. He's a," I whisper into the phone slowly, "vampire, as well, and he's so nice and sweet and I know you're going to like him."

Silence.

"We started off as, well, not being friends but that's just because I didn't really give him a chance to know me," I explain.

Silence.

"Maybe we could all meet up soon," I ask.

More silence.

"Uncle?"

Suddenly there was this sort of crunching sound over the phone, "I'm sorry, Spa-Sparky, the phones messing up and keeps-keeps-keeps messing up everything you say," Uncle Theo says. There's a slight buzzing sound to all of his words.

"Yeah, same," I sigh. "Listen, just think about meeting up with him one day soon. I better go, bye."

I hang up, throwing the phone onto my bed and sighing again. That could've gone better. I should really remind my Uncle to get a better phone - and buy me another one while he's at it.

"Honey, I'm home!" I hear the cheery voice of my boyfriend call as he comes through the door with some bags in his hands. He grins when he looks up and sees me, then tosses Alexis' room key on the side and puts his bags against the wall. He wanders over and puts his arms over my waist from behind me while I'm trying to make my bed.

"I'm trying to do something," I mock being annoyed at him and roll my eyes.

He moves my hair to rest on one of my shoulders while he begins leaving trails of small kisses down my neck. I squeal and try to get out of his grip but he's holding my hips.

"It tickles," I say, chuckling(because I would never, ever, admit to giggling in front of anyone under any circumstances).

He finally lets go and I twirl around to face him, putting my hands on his shoulders. He's grinning mischievously in a way that makes me almost melt right there into a pool on the floor.

"What's in the bags?" I ask, looking behind his head at the bags that he placed against the wall on the other side of the room.

"One bag of my stuff," he's looking at them too. "And one full of What Anyone Needs To Have Fun."
