Chapter 32 Cascarrafa Gym Battle

When we arrive at the Battle Court, a lot of people are already there cheering until Kofu arrives. Some children rush to Kofu and one says, "Old man Kofu! Play with us! C'mon!"

Then more people are surrounding Kofu. "I would be honored if you would try a new item from my restaurant's menu as well!"

Kofu sighs, "Sorry, everybody! I've got some business to take care of as Gym Leader real quick-like! I'm keepin' someone waitin', ya see. Please forgive me, I need to do this first!"

"OK!" After the crowd disperse, Kofu walks towards me. "Heya, step right up! I've been waitin' for ya. Thanks for the help over in Porto Marinada! You did a mighty fine job! And now that I've got that legendary seaweed, I kin make some real quality dishes with it! But don' expect me to go easy on ya in our battle here!"

"Of course not!" I say as we head to the other sides of the battlefield. The referee says, "The battle between the Cascarrafa Gym Leader Kofu and the challenger Ash Ketchum is about to begin. Each trainer will be using 6 Pokemon, and when one loses all 6 Pokemon, the other trainer wins."

"At the auction, we battle with buyin' and sellin'. At my Gym, we battle in a more traditional sense! Moves and tactics—ever-changin' as the raging sea! I'mma serve you a full course o' Water-type Pokémon! Don't try to eat 'em, though! Vaultin' Veluza!"

And he sends out his first Pokemon, which is a fish with pink fins and a weird look... Drandon says, "Ash! That's a Veluza!"

Veluza? So that means all this time this old man has been calling out Pokemon names? "Florges! I choose you!"

I send out my blue flower Florges as the battle starts.

"I feel a bit indebted to ya, but don't expect me to go easy on ya just 'cause o' that! Aqua Cutter!" Veluza starts by creating water cuts towards my Pokemon.

"Block it with Flower Shield!" I have Florges create the shield to block the attack. "Petal Blizzard!" Florges shoots the leaves at the Pokemon.

"Block it with Psychic Fangs!" Kofu yells as the Pokemon blocks the attack.

"Now let's set up the field, Grassy Terrain!" I decide to set the field so Grass Type Pokemon can have a boost in power. Kofu decides to have Veluza use Aqua Jet, dealing a lot of damage to Florges.

I have Florges go for Moonblast, and eventually, the giant sphere causes the Veluza to get knocked out in the end.

Kofu says, "Ha, time for the next surprise. Pelipper!"

The second Pokemon is Pelipper, and this Pokemon starts with the Quick Attack, hitting Florges, but I have Florges goes for the Petal Blizzard, which is strengthened by both the Grassy Terrain and the Flower Shield.

"Blizzard!" Kofu yells, and Pelipper creates a giant snow that causes Florges to get frozen. "You're kidding me!"

"Hurricane!" Pelipper goes for the Flying Type attack and causes the frozen Florges to be sucked inside, and once the ice breaks, it becomes confused instead.

"Damn it..." I say as the Grassy Terrain is also gone. "Florges, calm yourself and use Moonblast!"

"Surf!" Kofu yells, and both Pokemon manages to hit the other with the attack, and in the end, both Pokemon faint.

"A draw..." Lillie says, "Not to mention, it was like a real fight that becomes intense with the power of typing."

"Yeah..." Drandon says.

I recall my Florges while Kofu just gives out a laugh, "Who knows that the battle will turn out to be like this? Let's see how you handle Barraskewda!"

Barraskewda is speedy, so I decide to go with Toxtricity.
