Chapter 57 Snow Slope Run

Drandon, Lillie, Nemona, and I are now at the top of Glaseado Mountain, around the Pokemon Center, there is only a battlefield and a building: The Gym building. Other than that, there is nothing else.

"So this is where the final gym is." I say.

"Yeah... the Ice Type Gym." Nemona says.

"So what do you guys think of Ice Type?" Drandon asks, and Lillie says, "Are you seriously asking me this? Ice Type is my favorite type. I mean, like Snowy, she's cute, don't you think?"

"Well yeah..." Drandon says. I say, "Ice Types are also cool, like Lapras, Glalie, and Beartic, all of them are very unique, although the problem is that there are only a few Ice Type Pokemon in this world."

"Indeed. Ice Type Pokemon is said to have the least Pokemon in the world." Nemona says. "What about the gyms that you've faced in the past?"

I frown a little and say, "I remember that my last Ice Type Gym in Kalos is not that great... I lost for the first time, and I was never depressed before."

"Then how did you get over with?" Lillie asks.

"Serena gets me back to my senses by throwing snowballs at me. Telling me that I'm not the Ash I used to know." I say.

"I see..." Nemona says. "Despite she isn't here with us, I can tell she also has a lot of impact on you."

"Indeed. The same goes for you two as well." I say. "And about the Z Move for Ice Type, it is called Subzero Slammer."

"And we got it from a Totem Sandslash at Mt. Lanakila, the only cold place in a tropical region like Alola." Lillie says. "The Icium Z is actually the first Z Crystal that I got in the Alola Region."

"I see." Nemona says. "That sounds interesting."

"But speaking of Ice Types... I think we haven't captured any Ice Type Pokemon in the Paldea Region, right?" I ask.

"Well, you did get Chien-Pao." Lillie says, "But I know what you mean, we haven't captured a normal Ice Type Pokemon in Paldea. So I wonder what the Gym Leader is going to use."

"How about I tell you about it, the leader Grusha uses-" Before Nemona can continue, I stop her and says, "Sorry, I want to save the surprise for later. Since it is Ice Type, I'm pretty sure that I already have a plan ready for it."

"Me too." Lillie says.

"That's fine for me." Nemona says. "All I can tell you is be careful."

After getting to the gym, Nemona says, "It's finally time for your last Gym. Just so you know, I'm zero percent worried about you. I know you got this! Even La Primera seems like she wants to keep an eye on you two... Maybe I'll go find her so we can cheer you on together when you battle the Gym Leader!"

"Wait, you're going to find the La Primera here?" I ask with shock.

"Of course. So go have a battle that's fruitful for you AND for the crowd!" Nemona says as she rushes out of the gym.

I sigh as I go to the counter and meet the staffer. "Welcome to Glaseado Gym! Let me register you as a challenger. Your name is Ash Ketchum, yes?"

"Of course." I let the Rotom Phone register my ID and the applications, and then the staff says, "Great! Now, in order to face Gym Leader Grusha, you'll first need to pass the Gym Test. Here at the Glaseado Gym, that means doing the Snow Slope Run!"

"Snow Slope Run?" I ask in surprise. Does that mean it is some sort of skiing?

"Ride a Pokemon down the designated course and try to reach the goal within the time limit! To start your test, just head out of the Gym and go up the slope to your left. We'll fill you in on the details later there! Now get out there and have fun."
