Chapter 82 Entering Area Zero

Today is Monday, and it is actually the day when the Winter Vacation finally starts. However, before Lillie and I are going back to Kanto, I ask our families to let us stay a bit more in the Paldea Region because it is time for us to go to Area Zero.

"Ash, good morning!" Drandon, Reisa, Luke, Lillie, and Nemona rush into my room, and I say, "Oh, hey guys."

"Did you have a good night's rest? I hope I didn't make you very tired last night." Nemona says.

"Of course not, I'm actually enjoying it a lot." I say as I remember what happened yesterday.

(Flashback)

Nemona is covering her eyes after the loss of a battle, and it seems like Director Clavell and Chairwoman Geeta were about to interfere.

"You... YOU DID IT!" Just then, Nemona jumps into the air, much to our surprise. "This is legit incredible! You and Ash are the strongest out there, Lillie! I mean, you knocked me flat, and I was giving you absolutely everything I had! Everything I..."

She tries to laugh and says, "Oh man. Pokemon battling, am I right? It's so much better - so much more fun than I ever even knew!"

Lillie shakes hands with Nemona. Nemona says, "Thanks for that incredible match. You beat me for real this time!"

Everyone claps at the two of them, and we're doing the same thing. "Now let's give ourselves a minute and have a quick break, before I'm going to battle you, Ash!"

"Sure, I don't mind." I say as I step forward.

"Which Pokemon should I bring out this time? Decisions, decisions!" Nemona says as she is picking her Pokeballs.

(Flashback Ends)

"Well, we did have a lot of rounds that Director Clavell and Chairwoman Geeta have to stopped us." Nemona rubs her head with embarrassment.

"I agree... we do have a lot of Pokemon after all." Lillie says.

Just then, we get a Rotom Phone call, and Arven's the one who's calling us.

"Yo! Arven here!" Arven greets us, and his Mabosstiff wants to join into the screen, and Arven has to calm it down. "Woah! Down, boy! Don't jump up like that! Seems like hearing your voice has old Mabosstiff here all worked up, Ash! Oh! But that's not why I called! Nearly forgot... You remember what we talked about before? About going to Area Zero?"

"Of course, we're going today, right?" I ask.

"'Course you do, you little know-it-all! Got a mind like a steel trap, eh? Well, all the effort you've been putting in around Paldea has really helped you make a name for yourself. Built up some good will, that's for sure."

"Yeah, so we've been able to secure allies who want to go to Area Zero with us, right?" Lillie asks.

"That should have us ready to tackle anything! So now we've all just got to get there. First step will be gathering at Area Zero! I'll be ready and waiting at the Zero Gate—I'll send you the location on your phone, too. Don't leave me hanging forever! We'll be waiting!"

When we look at the gate, Nemona says, "It's actually close to Medali City."

"Let's go there, and maybe we should also bring Penny along." I say.

After the seven of us arrive at the Zero Gate, Arven waves his hands to us and yells, "Heeey! Over here!"

We rush toward him and he says, "This is the Zero Gate. It was made so researchers could try to observe the inside of the Great Crater of Paldea... What folks call Area Zero. It's our ticket down into the crater."
