Chapter 83 Area Zero Day 1

(Monday)

Today begins our first day of exploring Area Zero. The eight of us decide to set our goal to the first base. Both Koraidon and Miraidon refuse to get out of the Pokeball, so all we can just do is walk.

"So do we have enough food with us?" I ask Lillie, who looks at the basket and says, "Sure, five days of food is enough for us."

"So this is the inside of the Great Crater of Paldea - Area Zero..." Penny says. "Feels different from just seeing it in our textbooks. It's so intense..."

"Normally we'd never be able to get in here to see it for ourselves!" Drandon says.

"If only Koraidon and Miraidon didn't get spooked by something, since they're hiding in their balls."

"En serio? That's not good." Nemona says.

"Can we even get back up to the surface without it?" Reisa asks.

"Ah, should be all right. The last time I was here..." Arven says. "I caught a Flying Taxi out of the crater. They always come through, if you're a real sob story..."

"Why didn't you just call the professors, if they're down here? Don't get along or something?" Penny asks.

"Tch! None of your business, pipsqueak." Arven is annoyed.

"Geez, no need to bite my head off. What're you getting all huffy for anyway?" Nemona asks.

"OK, come on, guys! This is an adventure! Let's just have a good time!" I say with a sigh.

After being silent for a while, Reisa decides to talk again, "So how was your school life right now, Penny?"

"Huh? Well, uh... Everything was going off the rails. School was a mess, and my friendships... well, ditto. Ash and Lillie were a big help getting all that sorted out."

Arven says, "Hold it right there. You think YOU'VE got cool friendship origin stories with Ash and Lillie? They're nothing compared to what me and them went through! Our friendship's on another level!"

"Sure..." Lillie says with a sweatdrop.

"Um, nobody asked you. Stop trying to flex on us." Penny says, much to Arven's annoyance.

When we finally arrive at the first base, I say, "I think this is what we're looking for."

"Yeah, this must be one of the buildings the Professors were talking about!" Lillie says.

"Oh yeah, what were they called? Radish rations?" Arven asks.

"Research Stations." Penny sighs.

"Hmph. Well, I was close." Arven says.

"Wow, you have such a great memory, Penny!" Nemona says.

"What's great is my common sense compared to you lot, apparently..." Penny mutters.

"Hey, don't compare us with those two." Luke says.

Just then, we find two Glimmora in front of us, Penny gasps, "Gyah! What the heck is THAT?!"

"That's Glimmora." I say. "I think Chairwoman Geeta uses this one as her last Pokemon."

"Yeah. I didn't know that species could be found in the Great Crater." Luke says.

Then we decide to take on the Pokemon together, and eventually, we defeat both Glimmora with our Pokemon's help.

"Are there gonna be a lot more of these rare Pokemon down here, you think?" Nemona asks.

"You think that was something? Please. You've got no idea how terrifying Area Zero really is." Arven says.

"Wow, patronizing much?" Penny asks.
