"Can you just stop talking about this already?" Kenma shouted, his face filled with anger. Anger towards me.
"Can you stop avoiding it?" I shouted back, throwing my arms in the air like a lunatic.
"This is unbearable. Will you listen to me for once?" His voice cracked, and he looked me straight in the eye.
"I need to listen to myself." I lowered my voice slightly, and I gave him a pointed look.
"I think I need a break." He hissed.
"From what?" I stuttered.
"From this relationship." He muttered, and my stomach dropped. I didn't think something like this could change our relationship this much.
"If that's what you want." I said through my teeth. I sat up without making eye contact, and grabbed my stuff, and started for the door. "Sorry." I said, regret showing through my tone. I closed the door, and immediately felt tears burning holes in my eyes.
"Damn it." my voice broke as I quickly walked to my car, leaving his house behind. He said it was a break, but I wasn't sure that was exactly what was actually going to happen.
I walked to my car, and sat in it, not exactly sure what to do next. Should I just go home? I decided not to go home, and instead go to McDonalds.
I walked into the restaurant, and up to the counter.
"Welcome to McDonalds, what would you like?" The girl greeted me.
"Just a large chocolate shake." I deadpanned, and she nodded.
"Your total is $2.67" She smiled, and I paid for it quickly. "It'll be right out."
I sat at the nearest table, and tried to figure out what exactly just happened. My order was called, and I grabbed it quickly, leaving and going back to my car to think some more.
I felt like it was my fault, but he should've known that it wasn't gonna be perfect forever. I can't just wait around for him. I pulled out of the parking lot, and started driving home.
"I'm home." I shouted into my empty house, and no one answered. Every small reminder of my solidarity made me get crushed inside a little more each time. I walked up the stairs, and closed my door tightly behind me before letting everything go.
Deep breaths turned into a few tears, which turned into heavy sobs. I cried and cried, nothing disrupting or changing what was going on. I came back to my senses, and looked out my window to see that my mom's car was in the driveway.
I heard a knock at my door.
"Tetsuro? Are you ok?" My mom's voice asked from the other side of the door.
"I'm fine." I sobbed, and my door opened quicker than I anticipated. My mom noticed me on my floor, sitting against my bed with my knees drawn to my chest.
"What's the matter?" She sat next to me, rubbing circles in my back.
"Kenma wants to take a break." That's all I could get out before bursting into tears again.
"What happened?" She soothed.
"We...Got into... A fight." I choked out, too blinded by my sadness to elaborate.
"What was it about?"
"College." I buried my face in my knees.
"I'm sorry. What can I do?" She asked.
"I don't know." I took a deep breath. "He wanted to ignore the fact that I have to go to college, and I wanted to face it." I was crying hysterically.
"Oh. If you take a break. I'm sure you can make up."
"It was a really bad fight, mom. I'm sure he hates me." I cried, and started crying harder again. She just hugged me, and tried to calm me down.
"It will get better. I promise." she whispered against my hair.
