a/n things will happen soon....

I sulked in my kitchen, somehow still thinking about Kenma, even though the last time I went to that cafe was weeks ago. I wanted to make things right.

After deep consideration, I decided to face the fact, and left my apartment for the coffee shop.

~

I walked through the door and into the coffee shop, looking to see if he was working. I counted 6 heads, none of which were who I was looking for. I sighed, and walked up to the front, where the angry guy with the buzzcut that I last saw a month ago. I ordered what I usually do, and once I got it I walked out the door and angrily walked home.

He wasn't there. Of course he wasn't. He isn't scheduled every day, dumbass.

~~

The next day, I walked back through the door to the cafe, and after looking around for a little bit, I noticed that he wasn't there again. I guess I'll be back every day. Dejectedly, I walked back out onto the streets, not even bothering to get a drink. I wasn't even there for that, anyway.

~~

The day after that, I walked into the cafe, and saw exactly what I wanted to see. Kenma was working at the register. I walked up to it quicker than I wanted to, and locked eyes with him.

"Hey, when's your next break?" I asked, and he thought for a second.

"10:15. Why?" He asked.

"I just want to talk. About, y'know." I answered, and he nodded. "Also, I'll have my usual. Please." He nodded again, and pushed the card reader to me.

"Ok your total is $4.32." He said, and I paid. It was 10. I could wait a few minutes. I sat down at a table for 2, and patiently waited for my drink.

"Kuroo," Someone said from right next to me. I looked up to see Kenma.

"Hey." He had my drink in his hand, and handed it to me before sitting down across from me.

"So what do you want to talk about?" He asked, and I thought of the best response before answering.

"What happened, and I'm gonna beg for forgiveness at some point." I joked. Kenma laughed. I was thankful that the joke landed.

"Alright, say anything."

"Basically, I'm sorry for everything that happened, even if it was 5 years ago. I really didn't mean to be such an asshole, and honestly everything after that just kinda sucked." I took a breath, "And I'm gonna say sorry again, because I didn't realize back then that you had a point, and I was kinda obsessive over college."

"Wow, that's- a lot to take in." He looked shocked. "Honestly, it's mostly my fault, since I was so mean back then to you. I should've considered that you had a future, but I was in denial that you would leave, I guess." I probably looked shocked.

"I have to admit, when I saw you a month ago working here, I was really thrown off and suddenly in a really bad mental state." I chuckled. "But it was actually me just being dramatic."

"To be honest I was a little confused when you first walked in." He smiled a little bit. "I'm sorry that you were in a bad place... is that why you walked in here at 4AM that one day?"

I laughed. "Yeah... I had no concept of time, because I had left my phone at home and thought it was 10PM or something.

"Oh... that's interesting." He laughed quietly, something I hadn't seen from him in what felt like yesterday but was forever ago.

"But I was able to pick myself up and here I am." I sipped my drink, and he looked impressed.

"Quite the transformation, I can tell." He smiled, this time bigger.

"But about the breakup... I don't have a lot to say about that. I would never want to relive it." I shuddered just thinking about it.
