The walk to the castle is always so peaceful for me. I let Mario go ahead of me so I didn't have to be bothered with all of his fans when we got close to the castle. I preferred to be left alone on walks, except for at night. I shiver thinking about walking through the woods at night. There are certain creatures in the woods I hope and pray to never have contact with ever. It probably isn't a big deal to someone like Mario who could probably just kill whatever was stalking him in the tree line but for me, I would be nothing but fresh meat. I look over to my left to glance at the forest, but during the day time it's beautiful. Never have I ever had a bad experience there during the day time. Always just so calming and relaxing. I wonder what this summoning is about anyways.
Maybe, Peach misses me coming to visit and wants me to stay with her in the castle. I smile as I daydream about having my needs serviced, fresh fluffy beds, toads bringing food to me. Perhaps Mario told her about my softer nature and she wishes to preserve this nature with her. Making me a spot on her royal court. Ahh that would be so amazing sitting in the castle all day again like I used to when I was a kid. Attending important matters Peach needs me to look into.
"Welcome Luigi" my thoughts are interrupted by a toad opening the castle gate to me. Wow, it's a shorter walk then I remember. I look up at the toad "Peach requests to speak with you, you remember where her quarters are." I nod to him.
"Thank you." I watch we he nods back before I walk into the giant building they call a castle.
"Luigiiiiii" oh fuck, I look over to my right to see Daisy standing there waiting for me.
"Oh hey Daisy, long time no see huh." I say before letting out a nervous laugh.
"Yeah, it's very nice to see you again.
"Likewise." I give a minimal response but still, I see her standing there blushing. Oh god that's what I didn't want, let's just get this over with already. "So, will you be attending this meeting as well ?"
"Oh no no no, this isn't my Kingdom silly. Whatever Peach has to deal with she can handle unless of course she requests aid from my kingdom." She says smiling, as if what she just told me was supposed to impress me.
"Right.... well what are you doing here then ?" I ask puzzled at her presence. Of course I know the real reason. She heard I was coming to the castle and wanted to wait right here for me to see me again.
"I wanted to escort you to Peaches quarters, it's been a little while since you've been here so I wanted to help as much as I can. Besides I was already here spending time with peach anyways so might as well offer a hand." Collectively, I've probably been at this castle more times in my life time then Daisy, so what passage can she show me that I don't already know. Whatever Mario told me to be friendly so that's what I'm going to do.
"Thank you very much ! I appreciate your kind offer. Shall be go then ?" The faster we walk to quicker I can be done with this Daisy encounter.
"Mhm, just follow me !!" She abruptly grabs my hand and begins towards peaches. What.... The..... fuck...... she grabbed my hand and is now yanking me across the castle. Oh goodness Mario. If it wasn't for you I'd yank her hands right off of mine and walk by myself like I prefer. "I'm sure you remember the way but a friendly reminder won't be a bother at all."
"Yeah, I appreciate it Daisy" I lie to her face, no I don't appreciate this. I definitely don't want this at all. It would have been bearable if she didn't grab my hand but this is 10 times worse then I thought it would be.
"Alright, here we are. Good luck in there" she says giggling before she begins walking off.
"Thank you, are you off back to Sarasaland ?"
"Mhm, I got some things to attend too. But it was so nice seeing you again Luigi. Don't be a stranger now."
"Likewise Daisy, safe travels to you." She nods before rushing down the stairs we just climbed. Am I glad that over with. I let out a big sigh before opening the door to see Mario and Peach standing on the Balcony together. I walk in closing the door behind me. I approach the balcony and make my way besides Mario.
"Oh, hello Luigi. I hope your walk her was well." I look over to her warm smile. Oh I missed my friend.
"It was well, it's nice to see you again. She steps back opening her arms to a hug like state.
"I missed you a lot" she says smiling, "hug ?" I smile at her.
"I missed you too Peachy." I say walking towards her to give her a nice hug. I let go at the same time she does.
"Now, we have an important matter to discuss with you." She says in a more serious tone. She looks out to her kingdom then passed it to bowsers territory. "The Mushroom kingdom needs you Luigi, you are the only one who is for for this task."
"W-what task...? I don't have any skills really, I've never went on Adventures with Mario. I've never hurt anything in my entire life."
"I know, which is why you are perfect for this." She smiles knowing that put me to ease. Knowing I won't have to hurt anything helps a lot. "You do have a way with words however. So I will ask you this favor." I look over to Mario who nods to me, does he even know what this favor is.... No he definitely doesn't. If he did he would have told me.
"Alright, what is it?" I ask softly, it feels as though the air around me is getting harder. Am I nervous.... Scared ? Or both.
"I need you to go to Bowser castle and talk with him. That's all"
"THATS ALL ??!!!" Mario buds in rage pouring off of him. "You ask my brother to go into our number one enemies kingdom alone and unarmed ?! He's never even had a fight in his entire life Peach." Holy shit, Mario's protectiveness over me is burning brightly right now.
"I'll do it." Mario looks at me still enraged but calmer when speaking with me.
"L-Luigi, I don't want you to get hurt." He says approaching me. I look over to Peach who has a calm stature, I knew she expected Mario to react like that. She's knows him pretty well.
"Mario...." I give him a hug letting him rest his head on my shoulder. "I'm grateful to you for protecting me all this time. But who else can go do this task ? I've never been in the castle when bowser attacked previously. I've never even seen bowser. Therefore he won't attack me based on the fact that I have never attacked him. I am simply an innocent mushroom kingdom civilian who wants to speak with Bowser." I smile to Mario trying to calm him down.
"Peach..... if anything happens to him. We are done." He says sternly. He looks up at me, "stay strong L. I love you." He hugs me tightly before storming out of the castle.
"I knew he would have this reaction, your brother loves you very much and would die protecting you."
"I know.... I'm sorry for his harsh words."
"It's okay, like I said I was already prepared. I've never seen him so fired up in front of me but I guess your the flint and steel."
"I've never seen him that enraged either. But I've never had a life threatening event happen to me before either."
She walks over to me hugging me once more. "Thank you for agreeing to help the Kingdom and me."
"Of course, I still owe you for teaching me how to braid hair." I laugh playfully. She joins in as well.
"We'll consider the debt repaid, and on top of that I'll owe you. This is a big thing you are doing for me."
"I better get going then huh."
"I suppose so. Be safe Luigi, the Kingdom thanks you." She let's go out me and backs up a bit. I smile before walking over to the door.
"I'll try my best." I nod before walking out of the door. Off to see this infamous Bowser finally.
