Chapter 5: The "walk" home

"Luigi !!" Mario comes rushing towards me tears in his eyes. He grabs me, immediately helping me to my feet. "I was so worried about you" he says hugging me tightly. My heart melts at my brothers affection but I remember what bowser told me. How much horror he knows due to my brother. There are always bad guys to do every story. Mario's crime is that he protects without asking questions. He's not a bad guy at all I'm sure if he got to know bowser and talked to him then they'd actually get along. Mario is not one to stand for bullying, non the less bullying a whole other kingdom. Only if he knew... especially that bowser is like me and has no interest in peach romantically but really only wants peace between the two kingdoms. I smile and hug Mario back.

"Mario it was not a bad experience at all, the only issue I had was kamek woke up on the wrong side of the bed and teleported me a little weird is all." I'm not gonna tell them that kamek kinda hates me that'll just add fuel to a flame that doesn't need to start.

"So, Luigi what is your report ?" Peach starts to question me.

"Bowser is done with his kidnappings" Mario is okay because he doesn't know any better but peach. She knows what bowsers true intentions are, she knows all he wants is peace and she knows all the crimes committed against the Koopa kingdom but still doesn't care. "It was actually a night evening there."

"Luigi what happened there brother" he says patting the dirt off of my head. I don't really wanna be in front of peach at all.

"Mario, I'm a little light headed... I think it was the teleportation magic I'm not used to it"

"Wait Luigi we still nee-"

"PEACH" Mario yells firmly causing me to jump. He notices so he takes a deep breath calming himself down before he speaks again. "I am going to take Luigi home, he does not feel good." Hey states before picking me up easily. Mario hasn't picked me up like this I'm a while, the last time I think was when we were younger.

"O-okay Mario, feel better Luigi !" She says with a smile. I don't think I can think of Peach the same as I did before. Not after hearing what bowser told me. And it's not like he's making it up, why would his subjects also show me such kindness if it wasn't the case. She knows ! That's why she was so eager to talk because she wants to know if I also know.

I look around and notice we're half way home, Mario walks super fast when he gets upset. "You okay ?" She asks looking down at me.

"I'm okay now, you can set me down now."

"No I think you've done enough today you can rest now. Let your big brother handle it for now okay." He says smiling down at me before going back on the alert. It's night out so we both know weird creatures are out at this time. Creatures that can easily dispatch of me if I wonder to far from Mario. "So, what happened ? He didn't hurt you did he ? If so tell me and I'll make sure he never does ever again." He says expressionless, almost like he's getting emotionally ready to kill.

"No, actually bowser was really nice. It was just like peach said he didn't know who I was and it was just like having a visitor. After all there are no rules forbidding visits from the kingdoms. People from Sarasaland come and visit us all the time." He look down at me with a puzzled confused look. "He has this amazing garden, there are so many pretty flowers and butterflies, lighting bugs, even frogs !!"

"Sounds like just the place you would love" he says chucking softly.

"You didn't tell me your brother was Mario." A familiar voice appears. Mario jumps back into a defensive position. Breath comes out of the shadows giving me a small friendly wave.

"Mario it's okay, that's my friend !" Mario doesn't respond with a vocal response but instead lowers his guard just a bit letting breath approach.

"I wanted to make sure you were okay. I waited for you by the castle gates but you never came out. I thought maybe I missed you so I started walking down the path and just now caught up" aww breath wanted to walk me home, so kind of him. "You know how dangerous it is in the forest at night, I just wanted to help you get home safely but that was before I knew you were in good hands." He says before nodding towards Mario, I know breath couldn't hear but Mario let's out a soft 'hmm' under his breath to say he agrees.

"Well I appreciate the kind motive breath, it was very nice to meet you. You better get home before the big bad monsters come to get you" I say giggling a little. He chuckles before looking up at Mario.

"Take care of that one" he says before turning off and disappearing into the forest.

"You seem to be quite popular among the Koopas already." He says sternly before walking off still on guard.

"Oh not really, I've only just met a couple and they were all nice. Especially bowser, I thought I'd be scared of him but when he talked to me he was nothing but nice and friendly towards me.

"I saw how that one looked at you, like your a piece of meat and he wants a bite." He seems to skip over the part I said about bowser. I blush a bit.

"Well I mean he did say I was beautiful and all that, no one's ever done that to me before it was..... nice."

"Yeah well, that's how it works. Trust me I know, they are all nice because they see something pretty and then once they get what they want they no longer make themselves known." He says looking down at me. "Besides if he broke your heart I'd have to kill him" he chuckles trying to lighten the mood. It works, his protective jokes always make me laugh. "Okay we're home now. Go inside and take a bath, you had a long day today and you may or may not smell like Koopa farts" he says smiling and laughing.

"Hey, I may smell like Koopa Farts but you smell like Toad Burps." We both laugh as he places me down on the ground. "Thank you for protecting me." I say walking to our front door. I open it letting Mario walk in first then following him.

"Of course, earlier when I stormed out of the castle in a rage I came home and got your pajamas ready and a towel is already set for you to bathe yourself in the washroom." I shut and lock the front door before looking back up at him.

"Thank you, that's all I want right now." That was the truth, all the walking really did a number on my legs and feet. I just wanna sit in some warm water and relax for a bit. I rush to the washroom and close the door behind me. He picked out the pajamas he got me for Christmas the year I came out to him. He had peach teach him how to sow and he worked all year long to make me these. "Such a good brother" I mutter out to myself before walking over and turning the water on warm. I wait a couple of minutes with nothing but my thoughts, today has been the most interaction I've had in a while and... I kinda liked it. I step into the bath tub and lay down letting the water relax my muscles.

I'll have to do it more often.
