Chapter 19: In a perfect world

The sun shone particularly bright, I can hear the sounds of frogs singing in the background and smell the beautiful aroma that surrounded me. Immediately I knew where I was, bowsers garden. I tilt my head farther up taking a deep breath of the garden arm, feeling the sun all around my body. I open my eyes finally to see everything look much more brighter. I look down to see the statue that resides in the first area of the garden.

"There you are, I knew I'd find you here. Couldn't even come say hi to me when you got here ? Had to come straight to the garden again ?" Bowsers familiar voices echoes behind me. I turn to face him, only to be met with a big smile and his arms wide open. I smile back at him before walking into his arms letting them wrap around me. I feel so safe and comfortable when he hugs me.

"I knew either you or Kamek would spy on me anyways. I love playing the damsel role where I get to look pretty and have you come to me." I chuckle softly before bowser releases the hug.

"Hah, your my damsel." He says before leaning down and kissing my forehead gently. I feel a soft burn in my cheeks. "Well, I have a surprise for you, a surprise you would have ruined if you went any further into the garden." I look up at him only to be greeted by a stern but cute face.

"Look on the bright side cutie. I didn't ruin it hehe" I reach up and boop his nose, I can't help but giggle aloud when his nose twitches and he lets out a sneeze. "Bless you" I say in a teasing yet playful tone. He reaches down and softly pats my head.

"Okay, are you ready...?" He asks in a questioned yet excited tone.

"Yes, should I close my eyes...?" He nods with a smile. I know what comes next so I put my arms up before closing my eyes. He laughs before saying.

"Oh, seems we've developed a pattern haven't we ?" He says before sweeping me off my feet and into his arms. "First surprise." He leans in kissing me on the lips before pulling away with a chuckle. I can't help but smile.

"I liked that surprise" I say all giddy like, he laughs in return before walking over to the gate opening it. He walks over to the frogs, I can hear them jumping and splashing in the water. He gently places me down onto the ground in front of the pond I love so much.

"Okay and open !" I open my eyes to see a picnic set up in front of my eyes. A box with a note on top and of course bowser grinning for ear to ear. "Surprise !!" He exclaims over the sounds of the frogs. I quickly notice the card slide off of the box as well as the box moving around a bit. I look at it in confusion before grabbing the card. "Open the card first and then the box." I look up at him and smile, I haven't the slightest idea what this could be. I start to unfold the envelope and pull a card out, opening it I read it to myself.

When I first saw you, I was blown away.. starstruck even. The only other thing I had seen that compared to your beauty was when I was younger. Dad and I loved stargazing with his telescope he got me for a birthday one year. One star in particular stood out to me the most. It wasn't the brightest or the biggest. But what it did has was a green aura surrounding it. I had a favorite flower, the Green Dahlia. So of course I named this state Dahlia, until the day I laid eyes on you that star was the most beautiful thing I've ever laid my eyes on. In the box is a frog dedicated to you that will forever be added to the garden. Her name is Dahlia, now everytime you come to watch the frogs you'll have one that you know is connected with you.

I feel my eyes begin to sting with tears as I finish the note. I look up at him to see him holding a Green Dahlia, he slides it in my hair then pulls me in giving me a soft kiss.

"Thank you... I've never had anything like this before." My thoughts are interrupted by the box shuffling again.

"Of course baby, you deserve this. Go ahead and show Dahlia her new home." He gestures to the box. I smile with a big grin before gently moving the box over to me. I open it seeing Dahlia looking up at me with her huge eyes.

"Hi there Dahlia, you've already replaced Robyn as my favorite frog." I gently stroke her tiny head with my finger before grabbing her and slowly moving her over to a lily pad in the pond. She jumps off turning around rapidly examining her new home. The others make their way over to her greeting her with a song they all croak out in unison. I look back over to bowser only to see him gone. "Bowser...?" The song of the frogs grew louder until all together it stopped completely and all I saw was darkness.

The air around me sounded like it flowed in a confide area. I open my eyes to see a dark room. I notice the bed I'm in. Big and comfortable, I look around before I hear something. Snoring ? I look down and see Bowser sleeping on the floor with a blanket covering himself and a pillow. I must've fallen asleep in his arms while I was imagining all my happy thoughts. We're we dating in that dream ? Dahlia, the card it all seemed so real. I lay back down letting the soft mattress and pillows surround me. With a big sigh all my worries come back to me. I remember what I've been dealing with, I remember Breath and Mario... I hope they are doing okay.
