Liane's POV

"Liane! Liane wait up!"

I turn around to see who's calling my name to find Riker running down the hallway. He pushes past other students who get in his way until he finally stops by my side, breathing hard from all the running.

"Why are you so eager to get to me now?" I laugh. "You would've seen me in class anyways."

"I wanted to tell you that I came up with an idea on how to get Justine back - well my mom gave me the idea. But anyways, I'm gonna write a song. It's the perfect idea," he grins. "Isn't it?" He adds when he sees my expression of disinterest.

"Riker, you need to do something bigger than write a song for her. That's what you did to get her in the first place, right?" He nods. "Well you can't do that a second time. That's like, I don't know, showing her you're being lazy."

"Oh," his smile fades away and his shoulders slump down, obviously disappointed. "I've already got some of it written though. I was gonna sing it to her on Valentines Day," he adds not as enthusiastically.

"Okay, if you don't want to waste a good song, you can do that. But you also have to do something greater with it. It has to be something romantic because it's on Valentine's Day. It also has to show how much you really love her and how sorry you really are."

"Maybe I can give her two songs. I've got another idea for another one already."

I immediately shake my head. "That won't work." I pause to think of something grand that he can do. "We have time to think of something. Valentine's Day isn't here for another month or so."

"Yeah you're right. But time flies by quickly."

"I know!" I practically yell as the idea forms in my head. "I'm a part of the student council. Maybe I can get the school to organize a dance for the holiday. And it can be one of those ones where the girls ask out the guys."

"A Sadie Hawkins dance?"

"Yes, that! That's exactly what I was thinking of." I smile, getting excited for it already. "I'll bring it up at the next meeting."

"But what if she asks Rocky to the dance and not me?" He frowns.

The bell rings, cutting me off and letting us know we're late to our next class.

"We'll figure something out. Let's go." I grab his wrist and pull him down the hallway toward the classroom.

Riker's POV

We ended up being late for Drama class so it was no big deal. The teacher isn't too strict. But we ended up missing the instructions for what we are doing in class and we missed the reason why everybody in the room is making such a racket. When we enter the room, we see everyone is yelling. They're either arguing or complaining about something. I see the teacher is up at the front of the classroom, trying to calm everyone down. But that's not working at all. I look around and spot Rydel talking to Ellington. I turn to Liane.

"I'll go ask Rydel what everyone is going crazy about," I tell her and walk over to my sister. "Hey Rydel, what's going on?"

"Weren't you listening?" She exasperates, looking annoyed like everyone else. "Some of the middle schoolers are going to perform in the school play with us because not enough people signed up on the audition sheet. As you can see, most of us aren't too pleased about it because: 1. They are completely immature middle schoolers, 2. They don't even go to this school and most importantly, 3. They aren't very good at acting."

"Oh. Well Ross is a good actor," I point out.

"Yeah. But that's one out of twenty."

"Give them a chance Rydel. It's not one of your dance competitions, alright? It's a school play. Maybe some of them are really good at acting."
