Kahlil

As I watch her and my grandfather everything within me feels right. Gosh I am truly blessed with this girl.

I walk into the living room and the spot we saved for her she sets him down and gets him a cup of cocoa.

Mom starts, "Keisha, I apologize—"

"No one is upset. There is no need to apologize. Your Dad is a very sweet man."

"How did you know he's my dad?"

"You look identical."

"That's a first." She and he say.

"Robin you didn't tell me Kahlil was married?"

"Because he's not. Are you forgetting he is one year older than Callen?"

"But Callen-"

"Grandad not now." I cuts in.

Keisha gives me a suspicious look. I cup my hands over her ear and whisper, "Either he has a thing for your cousin. Or he is very protective of her so he calls her his girlfriend."

Without thinking I ask, "Amia do you have a boyfriend?"

"Way to put me on the spot like that. Yeah I do. Why?"

Keisha straight up asks. "Is it Callen?"

"No, that would be weird considering Callen is your boyfriend's cousin—wait did he tell you we were dating?"

"Possibly?" I mutter.

"Context?" She asks.

"Uh I told him you told me that you thought I was him," I point at Dad, "and he was like why you talking to my girlfriend and all that."

"Oh. Okay yeah, that's fine. I'm Miley's best friend. Callen is super overprotective of his sister. There was some drama with her and this guy then this guy started bugging me so Callen does what Callen does and I was cool with it. Callen has a girlfriend you know, since like September?" She chuckles. "She goes to your school too."

"Who!"

"Uh her name is like super unique. I think her name is Essence?"

Me, Tamera, Tyrel and Keisha stare at Wayne.

"Why y'all looking at me. I am not my sisters' keeper. What she does is not my business as my business is not hers."

"Your sis is a freshman."

"So? He is two years older than her. Why you acting like you aren't a year older than Keisha? And what happened to this being about Keisha's birthday?"

Tamera rolls her eyes. "Everyone in this house should know Keisha literally does this every year. She acts like it's not her birthday. She'll dress to look pretty then open gifts. Talk about anything that's not about her and go to sleep at 8. Before the cake is cut. She is always out before the cake."

"Leave me alone."

"Never."

Keisha
