Chapter Two: The Invite

(A/N HEY GUYS IVE DECIDED THAT I WILL TRY TO UPDATE EVERYDAY SO YEAH THATS IT SOO ENJOY!!:)):))

Autumns POV:

I walk into the classroom and see that I'm five minutes late. I shut the door behind me and everyone turns toward me. I can feel my face burning, I quickly find an empty seat in the back.

"Miss.Reed do you have a reason for being late?" Ms. Liftfield asks.
I quietly say "no I don't...m'am."
Mrs.Liftfield glares at me and says "Don't interrupt again or you'll get detention."
"Anyway....today I will be pairing you up with a partner for a project that is due Friday."
"Great." I thought.

Ms.Liftfield calls out people's names.

".....Shelby and Lizzie, Kyle and Carmen, and Autumn and Drew."
"What?!??!" Drew says.
"What do you mean what?!?" Ms.Liftfield says sternly.
"Why do I have to be with....her?"
"Because I put you with her, now the project topic is going to be a historic figure of your choice."
The bell rings.

Before Ms.Liftfield can say anything all the kids run out the door. I too get my stuff and head out the door to my next class, History. I walk into class and think about how Drew is my partner. Drew is the most athletic/popular kid in school, no wonder he doesn't want to be my partner. After 30 boring minutes of lectures, it's time for lunch. I find Ali siting at table with all of the popular people. I try to find a different seat but Ali spots me and motions for me to come sit next to her. I quickly walk over to her and and sit down next to her and Josh, who is one of the nicest popular people there is, and sit there awkwardly and silently start to eat my lunch. Ali chats with a bunch of her friends then turns to me.

"Autumn" she whispers to me.
"What?" I whisper back
"Are you ok?"
"Yeah, why?"
"You just looked...depressed."
"I'm not depressed!" I accidentally shout.

Everyone at the table looks at me.

"Why'd you yell?" Ali asks.
"I don't know, I didn't mean to...." I say
"Anyway, Autumn here wants to be a part of our group." She says
"Wait what?" I say.
"Autumn you can't just go around....you know with no friends."

A tear escapes my eye and then they start pouring down my face. Why was I crying? Ali looks at me and smiles. Wait what??

"Autumn I'm just trying to help you." She says quietly.
I wipe my eyes and look at her.
"You can definitely join our group" Josh says and gives me a pat on the back.
"Thanks" I say.
The bell rings.

Everyone gets up and slowly makes their way to their next class. I have Science next so I walk with Ali. Once we get there we find seats next to each other and the teacher starts talking. After Science we head to Math which is just as boring as every other class. The last bell of the day rings and I pack up, get on the bus, and sit next to Ali who looks excited.

"What's up with you?" I ask.
"MY MOM SAID YES TO THE CAMPFIRE!!!!!" She squeals.
"What campfire?"
"The beginning of the year campfire."
"Where is it?"
"At my house" She replies smoothly
"Cool" I say feeling a bit bummed that she di-
"Do you wanna come??" She asks a bit too enthusiastically.
"Of course!" I say feeling happier.
"Awesome" She says. "Be there at six."

The bus gets to my stop and I get off waving at Ali as the bus drives away. I start walking home when suddenly someone bumps into me from behind. I stumble forward then look back to see who it was. I recognized her from school, but she doesn't ride our bus...

"Sorry" She says and then quickly runs off.

Well that was weird.
