Chapter Five: Weapons

Jade's POV:

My phone buzzes in my pocket. I pull it out and a text lights up on the screen, it's from Nick to me, Josh, and Drew.
It reads, "The Fire girl is here so get down here asap."

I sigh and make my way to Josh and Drew. They are walking toward Drew's red convertible.

Once I catch up to them they both look at me and Drew says "Who is this girl anyway?"
I shrug and say "I think her name is Autumn."
He looks at me dumbfounded and says "That loner girl?"
Before I can say anything Josh says "She's not a loner!" "I'm her friend."
"Well I don't like her." Drew says.
"Why not?" Josh asks.
"Well she's just...I don't know....she seems like a know it all."
"She's not a know it all!" Josh retorts.
"Guys." I say. "Stop fighting like two year olds"

They both shut up and Drew opens the car door for himself and gets in. Josh gets in the back and I get in the passenger seat. Drew drives us to his house where a portal is located. He runs up to his room and comes back down with a circular object.

"Did Nick give you that?" I ask.
"Yeah" He says. "It's a travel sized portal."
"Cool" I say.

We walk into his backyard and he throws his portal on the ground. Immediately it grows to its full size and we all jump in.

Autumn POV:

I look at her in misbelief.

"Are you sure it wasn't a dream?" I ask.
"Positive." She says. "Anyway at the campfire once you fell in everything was chaos, so Josh used his spray thingy that made everyone forget everything that happened in the last hour. Jade put a portal in the campfire beacons do she knew something would happen."
"Wait." I say cutting her off.
"Josh who?"
"Josh Hutcher, why?" She asks.
"He, he goes to our school, he's my friend!"
"Yeah, everyone here goes to Greene High."
"What's the-"

I'm cutoff by the sound of doors I didn't see before, sliding into the wall and back out again. Three people walked in, one was Josh, another was a girl with dark green eyes, choppy black hair with a green streak in it, she was wearing a skull tank top, with a leather jacket, some leggings, fingerless gloves, and combat boots. Everything she wore was black. I see her around school sometimes walking with some other punk rockers. Next to her was..DREW!! His light brown hair was a tiny bit messy, his sky blue eyes looked bluer then ever, and he wore a yellow and grey t-shirt, khaki shorts, and a pair of tennis shoes. He looked really cu-. NO I WAS NOT ABOUT TO THINK THAT!! They all looked at me with different expressions. Josh smiled, the punk rock girl looked at me straight faced, and Drew looked confused.

"So.." Syd said.
"This is Jade." She said pointing to the punk rock girl.
"And this is Drew." She said pointing at Drew.
"I know." I mumbled.

Then a boy with dark brown hair walked in and smiled at me.

He said "You must be Autumn."
"Yup that's me." I say trying to stay calm, all of this is just so overwhelming.
"I'm Nick and I'm the balance of this group." He starts laughing.
"Nick that wasn't funny." Jade says.
"Yeah that kinda stunk." Drew says.
"Whatever." He says. "Anyway I am the element of balance, I keep everything in order and make sure the universe is balanced."

He looks at Josh and motions for him to speak.

Josh says" I'm the element of life, I can control any living thing and communicate with any living thing."
Josh looks at Jade and she sighs and says " I'm the element of death, I can control the dead and the earth."
She slaps Drew on the back and he snaps out of his thoughts and says "I'm the element of storm/air, and I can control the wind and the weather."
Syd says "I'm the the element of water, I can control water and breathe underwater."
Nick looks at me and says "Follow me and we'll go pick you a weapon out."
"A weapon??!!?" I say.
"Yes a weapon, now follow me."

He walks to the door that the three entered, he types in something, and the the doors slide open. But instead of the outside there's some type of gym inside. Nick walks over to a shed that says "Armory" on the outside. He puts in a code and the doors open. Inside is a ton of weapons and armor. He looks at me and says

"Pick one out and try it."

I look in the shed and see a sword. I'll try that I guess. I pick up the sword and it feels heavy in my hand. I walk over to a dummy and try to hit it but I miss, then I miss again, and again and again. I look at Nick and he shakes his head, so I go back to the shed and pick out a dagger, that doesn't work either. After ten minutes of trying to find a weapon I finally do. Nick hands me a double sided ax thing and look at him like he's crazy, but he still motions for me to try it. I go over to the dummy and try to hit it, and I do. I hit a ton on times until finally a red glow forms around it. Nick gives me a thumbs up and shows me how to fold it up so I can carry it in my pocket. When it's folded up its just a metal stick that has a button on the bottom that activates it. For some reason my weapon, it makes me feel complete.

That night we had a campfire to celebrate my coming to the camp, everyone had a great time and this time I didn't fall in.
