Falling for a mistake | Jeverus

Part 5

Severus really doesn't feel well. His chest has been hurting a lot recently. It's a physical kind of chest pain, not the kind he gets every time he sees James.

But that's there too, lingering underneath whatever is going on. He hasn't had a full conversation with James in almost a week, always too busy during the day and night alike. He shifted his schedule so James leaves earlier than him and he gets home later.

He says it's to optimize working but it's really because he doesn't want to see James. He doesn't want to know what happens in a month.

" fuck." He clutches his chest and has to stop working.

" Dr. Snape, are you okay?" Frank asks and Severus nods then groans.

" Um, can you call the head of cardio?"

" Why? Is something wrong with a patient?"

" No something is wrong with me."

Just then a sharp pain hits his chest, just on the left side of his upper ribcage. Its next to his sternum, uncomfortable and completely blinding.

" Get her now." He manages to say before collapsing, knees giving out.

" Severus!" Frank yells and runs over, catching the attention of the nurses.

" Sev?" Lily asks and turns the corner, seeing him slumped down on the floor with his hand fisted in his shirt.

It hurt. Fuck it hurts.

" Where is she?" He mumbles.

" I just paged her, she'll be right down."

" Shit is this a heart attack?"

" Order an EKG, i want a full scan." Frank yells and some of the nurses and residents help him onto a wheelchair.

" Frank it's not getting better."

Another wave of sharp pain.

" I'm gonna pass out. Where is Dr. McGonagal?" He pants, realizing his vision is starting to go.

" I'm here. Get him to a room." McGonagal orders and he is wheeled off to the icu.

Before he even makes it to a bed he is unconscious.

" What?!" James stands up and grabs his coat.

" I'm on my way, thank you." He hangs up quickly and grabs everything off the table.

" What's wrong?" Regulus asks and James is already panicking because where is his wallet?

" Severus had a heart attack."

" What?!" Regulus has more or less the same reaction and springs into action.

They're out the door of the coffee shop in less than two minutes, James practically throwing himself into the car and shoving everything in the back without a care.

They race down to St. Mungos and run into the hospital. James' face is full of worry, he looks around for a familiar face when he finally spots Lily.

" Evans."

Lily looks up and she sighs, relief or disappointment he couldn't tell.

" Finally, you're here. What took you so long?" She scolds and stands up to guide them to Severus.

" We got here in under 20 minutes!" He defends, Lily just rolling her eyes as she opens the sliding door.

" it's been an hour, you wouldn't pick up the first three times." Lily huffs and James curses under his breath.
