You and MacCready waited your turn at the settlement's cook station, choosing to cook up some Deathclaw steaks. You dined under the stars, side-by-side, while sharing a bench together. Having a couple of brews as well, it was a comfortable and relaxing evening.
Beantown brewery was just down the railroad, so there was always a supply of beer here at Oberland Station. Some of the new settlers sat nearby and made light discussion with you and MacCready. They asked you about yourselves, and in return they told you about each of them.
After dinner, you split a cigarette with Robert, before finding a spare bed to share in the small nearby shack. Both of you were exhausted from your long journey, having walked almost non-stop for two days.
He crawled in first, leaving you to snuggle up against him. You quickly got comfortable leaning your head against his chest, as Robert wrapped an arm around you. You practically passed out, falling asleep before you'd realized.
----
When I began to stir awake, I felt Robert's arm snugly pulling me into his chest. Listening, I could hear the soothing pitter-patter of rain on the metal roof above, mixed with Robert's light snoring. It was still dark outside and a cold wind blew, but it was warm under the threadbare blanket, with him under it.
Lying half-awake, I enjoyed the sensation of his warmth and comfort, as I reminisced about all the fond memories and touching moments I've shared with him.
The way he'd comfort me whenever I cried or expressed what was on my mind.. how he made me laugh.. how reliable he was in a pinch.. how he made me feel when he looked at me with his big blue eyes, filled with an unexpected tenderness.
He made me feel cherished, respected and special... like we were an unstoppable force, and nothing could come between us.
Just then, a particularly large thunder boom sounded off close, rattling the wooden frame of the shack. This caused you to jump startled, and for him to awaken. He blinked his eyes slowly, heavy with sleep as he stretched.
"Man, is it time to head out already?" He asked half yawning, halfway pouting.
I chuckled softly, checking the time on my Pip-Boy next to the bed. "Actually, it's too early still. It's only 4:45 am and still dark out.. not to mention the rain is picking up too."
"Mmmph." He acknowledged sleepily. He was looking deeply into your eyes, being so close.
You paused, hearing another thunder boom but it was farther this time. You didn't like traveling when the rain was coming down this hard. You knew that you would be dry in the power armor, but still didn't like your guns being wet, when your life depended on them.
You two were the only ones sleeping upstairs, the bottom level being much larger and having more beds. I was considering, how right now might be a nice time for some activities, of a more leisurely nature. We were safe here and I was feeling energized from a restful night of sleep.
"Let's find a way to kill some time, while the rain lightens up." I ran my fingers through his hair and gazed at him seductively. "Didn't you say.. that you liked when I'm close?" I emphasized, pressing my body into his.
I felt his involuntary bodily reaction, as our bodies touched. He chuckled, smirking at me. "Mmm, it's true. I like when we get so close.. that we connect." He raised an eyebrow suggestively.
