Quick Note : Special thank you to jazz_tia_owens, one of my best friends. She helped with some ideas this chapter, because I had a very bad case of writers block at one point haha! I love this girl to bits, she is an amazing friend...as well as an amazing writer, so you should go and read her TVD story-- because it's very good, and simply because I told you to Okay, I'll shut up now. Enjoy the chapter!
When Alex left Norma's house that morning, he'd planned on heading straight to work. As he sat down in his car, he had a call from Bob Paris and felt a sense of déjà vu from the last time this happened. "What the hell do you want?"
"You really need to work on those manners, Alex. I mean I know you don't have much experience with friends, but so you know...that's not how you greet them." Bob said with that signature smug tone to his voice.
"Spit it out Bob, what do you want." Alex said, putting his hand on the steering wheel as if he was ready to go. He didn't want this conversation at all, whatever it was, but if they were going to have it he wanted it to be quick.
"I noticed you ignored my warning. Silly, really. It makes what I'm about to break to you a lot harder to take than it could've been had you just listened to me--" Bob sighed, making it seem as if he actually cared about Alex's feelings.
"Warning...what warning, what the hell are you talking about?" Alex furrowed his brows, confused.
"About Norma Bates. Remember...I told you she was using you to protect her family, playing with your feelings...blablabla--you remember the speech. And you chose not to listen, which you probably thought was a good idea at the time. Fair enough. But now, ooooh. Now it's time for your wake up call."
Alex wondered what bullshit Bob was going to feed to him this time. He expected it to be a bunch of lies as usual, but he knew he had to listen to whatever he had to say. He'd never leave him alone otherwise. "What makes you think I haven't listened to you?"
"Well, you see, last time I checked you two were strolling round at the carnival together. She was wearing your jacket, leaning into your shoulder. You know, the two of you would actually be kinda cute if she wasn't such a crazy bitch. Shame, really." Bob tutted, shaking his head.
"Don't talk about her like that. I mean it Bob, I've told you once and I'll tell you again. Don't screw with her, okay...just don't do it. You have what you want with her, you have your stupid flash drive. So leave her the hell alone."
Bob simply laughed. "Oh no. Oh, jeez....this is really is awkward. You see the thing is, I don't have the flash drive. I sent for it though, I'll admit that. Gotta say, she put up a fight. She's tougher than she looks, that woman. She was threatened by some of my guys but still, she didn't give it up. The guys came back empty handed yet again. I'm guessing she told you this sob story about how my men came and attacked her--forced her to give it up, right? Poor old Norma Bates, huh?" Bob tutted again. "I told you, Alex. She's playing you. And you're falling for it hook line and sinker. It's heartbreaking to watch, it really is."
Ales listened to every word Bob said, and his grip on his phone slowly tightened. He didn't know what he was more mad at, the fact that Bob was such an ass or the fact Norma had lied to him. Again. He chose not to say anything else, and just hanged up the phone. Looking up at the house, Alex sighed and got out of his car. He walked up to the house, knocking on the door.
Norma came to the door, grinning slightly. "You couldn't stay away could you?" She said, a flirtatious tone to her voice.
"Why'd you lie to me, Norma? Again?"
