Acting normal is exhausting

Acting normal is exhausting. So, I decided to be normal instead.

I could see the confusion in Heeseung's face when he woke up to the weird new normal, but I could see the relief as well: he was visibly relieved that he didn't have to figure it all out today.

Sure, the high-five was awkwardly over-the top. Sunoo made fun of me for it later.

Jungwon called that we had 30 minutes until rehearsal, so I went to the room and got changed, grabbing my bag as I started to head out the door.

I almost bumped into Heeseung coming into the room as I walked out.

"Oh! Sorry!" I smiled, moving to one side so he could walk past me. I could feel my face turning hot, but I kept moving.

"No worries," Heeseung laughed, "it's your room, too. Hey Jake?"

I stopped, turning around slowly to face him. Please don't mess this up right now, Heeseung.

"Listen. I just wanted to say thanks. I think that this - "

"Nope! Nope, we're not doing any of that!" I laughed, "I'll see you at rehearsal".

I spun on my heels and ran toward the front door: "Sunoo! Wait up!" I called.

Sunoo slowed down so I could catch up to him as he, Sunghoon, and Ni-Ki headed toward one of the SUV's.

"Everything okay?" he asked, his face concerned.

I nodded, "Yeah, it's just...he tried to like TALK which is the entire point of this whole thing - NOT to talk. I'm worried that every time we're by ourselves he's gonna want to have a whole discussion just for the sake of filling empty and uncomfortable space."

"Hmmm..." Sunoo looked deep in thought, stopping on the sidewalk. I looked ahead at Sunghoon waiting for Sunoo to get in the SUV. I got behind Sunoo and pushed him toward the car.

"Think while you're walking!" I laughed, and Sunoo walked the few feet to get into the car before me and then Sunghoon.

Once settled, Sunghoon gave Sunoo a curious look.

"You're up to something..."he said. It was DEFINITELY a statement. He wasn't wondering - he was sure.

"Hoonie, if we weren't together, who would your roommate be?"

"I mean obviously Hee - wait... Awww, man? You wanna switch rooms?!?!"

"For like, maybe 11 nights," Sunoo laughed, "You'll be fine, geez. He's your best friend".

"But...I like OUR room," Sunghoon protested.

"I know! So will Jake!" Sunoo laughed.

"But the comfy bed!" Sunghoon pouted.

I laughed, then interjected: "No, Sunghoon, it's okay. Seriously. I never asked Sunoo to do that. I was just mentioning that Heeseung was going to struggle to find empty space to fill. He's already trying to talk."
