Tay swore he was dreaming. When he woke up that morning, he was in bed alone. He swore Vegas had spent the night with him. But where was he?
Trying to make sense of his reality, he immediately jumped out of bed and walked around his apartment frantically looking for Vegas and desperately hoping that their night together wasn't just a one time thing or just a fragment of his imagination.
It didn't matter how many times he walked around the building there was still no sign of the man. His living room was neatened and there were no clothes anywhere on the floor. It was as if no one had been there the night before.
Tay swore he had sex with Vegas that night. There was no way someone could dream so vividly? He knew he drank a lot last night but the more he tried to recall what had happened, the less made sense to him. Tay could help but break down. The pain and confusion consumed him. He wanted scream out and hit the closest thing he could find. But all the managed to do was fall to the floor as he sob softly in his hands that covered his face.
His back ached and there was no denying the purple bruises that was spread all over his body. There were nail marks that burned on his waist. His neck ached. His head ached. There was no denying he had sex recently.
It was his usual coping strategy in the past few months to hold onto the necklace Vegas gave him when they officially became boyfriends whenever he was scared or anxious or something good happened to him. It was his way to sharing his life with Vegas even if they weren't together as a couple.
But as he hopelessly clutched his chest trying to grab the piece of metal, he couldn't seem to find it. He ran his hands across his burning eyes trying to clear up his blurry vision before he looked down at his chest.
Tay bolted back to the room. The covers were thrown onto the floor. The bathroom was in a state and so was the living room. It was gone. His necklace was gone. He couldn't find it no matter how many hours he spent that day rummaging through his things in search for the item of jewelry.
After countless trips around his home, night had eventually fallen. The darkness from outside and the minimal light of his apartment left Tay even more devastated. His one and only memory of Vegas gone.
No matter how many times people called to check on him that day. To Tay nothing mattered more than the necklace. But it was gone...
Tay sobbed so much that evening. His chest ached and so did his head as he stayed crouched in the middle of his apartment crying for hours on end. Even leaving Thailand didn't break Tay as much as this did. He couldn't understand what was going on at all!
And even though he was so grateful that Vegas had come back to spend the night with him, this hurt him more than anything else and left him beyond confused. Why did Vegas come back? Why did he leave? And where the fuck was his necklace?
But this put things even more into perspective for Tay. Yeah, he loved Vegas. But this dependence on a man for his happiness was really a problem. Tay was a very capable man and he knew he had to work on this. In the past 6 months he had made excellent strides in his professional life and achieved things he didn't even know were possible. But all this while, working was nothing but a distraction for Tay. It was something to keep his mind of Vegas until they could be together again. But honestly, he knew that was a shot in the dark. There was no guarantee that they would be lovers again. There was greater certainty that they would never see each other again than anything else. And Tay knew better than to spend the rest of his life letting another person's presence determine his happiness and self-worth. Whatever happened in his love life wasn't a reflection how good of a person he was. He deserved to be happy and content with his life as it was. No more was Tay going to chase men or depend on them whole heartedly. Dating someone isn't the only way to be happy!
