Venus
I surely kicked that asshole's ass, she was trying so hard to hit me in the shins but since she was shorter all I had to do was put the wooden sword to forehead and watched as she struggled to reach me.
After our day was over, I was walking the queen and her kid to their room when we walked inside I noticed a figure just standing there. That person being Maximus, he looked so deep in his thoughts that he didn't realize we were coming his way.
"Maximus?" Lavinia called for him, he turned to look at her for a moment then back at me. He didn't even glance at his kid, nor did the kid. What the hell is going on?
"I was looking for you, where have you been?" He asked directing the question to her but his eyes were on me for a while, she sighed and pulled her daughter to her side with a soft smile.
"Well, Diana and I were playing in the garden the whole time." She replied in the most convincing way she could, the guy didn't even look at his kid, he literally just pretended she's not even there.
"Alright then, are you coming to our room tonight?" He asked shamelessly in front of his kid, I just stood there stunned at the many horrible traits this man has.
"I don't feel like it" she replied looking away from him, he gave me a look as if asking me to leave but I pretended that I don't understand and just stood there.
"Out" he said and I just stood there still, he gave me a weird look and I saw the anger building up in him, he was about to make his way to me but Lavinia stepped in front of him.
"Venus can you take Diana to her room please?" I heard the queen say and I immediately bowed my head and gave my hand to girl who was staring at the ground since we entered the room. She softly grabbed my hand and we walked out of the room, I don't know why I gave her my hand to hold but it seemed like the right thing to do.
"Are you alright?" After walking for a while I decided to ask her because she didn't say anything the whole time.
"Yes, I'm used to it" she replied sounding disappointed, we stood in front of her bedroom and she let go of my hand and looked up at me.
"Thank you for playing sword fight with me Venus, you may leave" she said with a smile making me chuckle, she had the attitude of her mother and I wasn't surprised.
"I'll see you tomorrow, your highness" I replied with a slight nod, she smiled and rolled her eyes at me and entered her room. I shook my head and made my way back to the queen's room to make sure she doesn't need anything.
I knocked softly on the door and waited until she responds, it didn't take long for her to open the door.
"Venus? Is Diana alright?" She asked in worry, I smiled and nodded, she sighed in relief and pushed her hair out of her face I noticed she had a red spot on her cheek that wasn't there before. She didn't have the door fully opened so half her body was hidden behind but she was still in her dress from earlier.
"I just came to make sure you don't need anything" She looked down trying to hid it with her hair,
"I..yes, I'm alright. Thank you Venus, you may go..." She tried to shut the door but I put my hand stopping it before it fully shut, her eyes held so many secrets and so many emotions but I knew she was not ready to speak of them.
"Are you sure?" But I still asked anyway.
"Lavinia are you coming back?!" The manly voice of Maximus said from the other side of the door, she seemed somewhat embarrassed by this but I just bowed my head slightly and took a step back.
"Goodnight your majesty" before she can say it back I turned around and walked away, they told me he was an angry man and that he didn't like to be told no but I never expected him to put his hands on a woman. I really should've let him get stabbed, but that would mean they'll kill Diana as well because she's his daughter and heiress.
"Oh Venus, hello" Alba, the second maid to the queen waved at me, I didn't see her since yesterday. I simply nodded at her and made my way to my room, I hate men who abuse women, she's the mother of his child, a child that he doesn't even like.
Alba must have an idea, everyone here must know, right? I turned around and made my way back to Alba, I grabbed her by the forearm and turned her to look at me.
"He hits her?" Was the first think I asked, her eyes held pity, or guilt, I don't know but it just confirmed that I was correct they know, but of course they're just slaves, just like me, who'd step up to the emperor anyway?
"She personally ordered us to stay out of it, Venus. He threatened to hurt Diana" Alba explained with terrified look, she was looking around to check if someone was eavesdropping on us. She grabbed my hand and pulled me to a corner away from anyone's sight.
"Look, it's not my place to explain this to you. She's the queen yes, but she's also a mother ans she'll do anything to protect her child" her words hit at heart, my mother would've done the same, gods she probably is still doing so right in this moment like she's always been doing. Protecting us.
"Venus just stay out of it, he'll kill you with cold blood. He doesn't care about anything but himself" Alba said with a soft voice, she put her hand on my shoulder giving it a pat before leaving. I stood there with thousands of thoughts clouding my mind, I should stay out of it...
But I can't see her get hurt, or any woman get hurt and not do anything about it, even if it meant I'll take their place in punishment. But for now, I'll just do my job and stay in my place.

I couldn't have a glimpse of sleep the whole night, or for the next few days. I've thought about my family, the queen, that bearded asshole. But mostly my family, was there a possibility to go see them, maybe runaway, there's nothing stopping me honestly but if I leave I can't come back, and I'll have nowhere to go.
The stupid wooden sword hit me in the face, I winced holding my temple in pain. I was back practicing with Diana but I lost focus with everything that's been going on.
"What is it that's been bothering you, because this is boring I'm literally winning right now" She said sounding very annoyed, I haven't seen the queen in a few days because she wouldn't open her room, I go wait in front of her door hoping she'd come out but then Marissa would come up to me and tell me the queen doesn't feel like going out.
"I'm just..." releasing a soft sigh I dropped the sword on the ground and went to sit on a the edge of the stair and I watched the kid do the same.
"I really don't like your dad" I mumbled glaring at the grass,
"I don't either"
I stared at the 10 year old sitting next to me while she bit on her nails with an unbothered look. How can someone this young say something like that, I mean I don't blame her but what has he done to make her hate him, other than ignore her.
"Do you have a reason why?" I asked curiously, she chuckled but not because she found my question funny.
"I have more than one" I stayed silent not pushing it any further because she was still a kid.
"My mom told me he was a good person when I was born, but he changed as soon as I started to grow breasts" she explained making me look at her confused not understanding where she was going with her speech.
"I'm like you, Venus. That's why he's mad, that's why he hates me. And that is probably why my mother brought you here"
