Chapter 27

Marissa

We had to leave fast before any of the royal guards catch us, Felix was in front of us with Lavinia behind him then me and Rhea last. We were sneaking through the dark hallways trying to find a way out fast.

In front of us were two hallways that crossed each other, and we could hear voices talking which meant guards were there and we had to cross to the other side without getting caught.

Felix turned to look at Lavinia and she nodded her head telling him that she's ready, he peeked to see if the guards were looking our way then he quickly ran to the other side. Then it was Lavinia's turn, she was waiting for Felix to give her the signal so she can run to him and when he did she safely crossed without grabbing any guard's attention.

"You ready?" I heard Rhea whisper in my ear, I ignored the feeling of her breath brushing against my skin and put my full attention on Felix. He gave me the signal then when I was about to jump his eyes widened in horror.

A hand wrapped around my mouth and pulled me back right as I was about to jump, Rhea pulled me against her chest her arm was wrapped around my waist while her hand was on my lips stopping me from making any sound.

My heart was beating so fast but the thing is I didn't know if it was because two guards walked past us and we were about to get caught, or because Rhea had me pressed against her and I could feel her boobs on my back and something else poking my lower back.

Her hand gripped the side of my dress and I unconsciously closed my eyes, I didn't know why my body reacted the way it did but I found myself leaning further more on her.

When she thought the way was clear and we were good to go she let go of my mouth but her arm was still around my body. I could feel her lean down closer to my face.

"Are you okay?" She whispered in a worried tone. Unable to look at her or reply back since I was embarrassed I just nodded my head quickly and pulled myself away from her grasp, she cleared her throat and stood up straight acting like nothing happened and so did I.

We crossed to the other hallway safely and we followed after Felix until we were out of the place, we kept running away until we reached a safe area. I sighed trying to catch my breath and looked at Lavinia who was holding her chest breathing heavily as well.

"Blondie and I will be going to the castle since he's not there, you two go back to the house" Rhea ordered them while I just stood there my cheeks warmer than usual and thinking about...stuff.

"Be careful" Lavinia said giving me a side hug and I smiled at her. I gave Rhea a glance and she was already looking at me with curiousness in her eyes so I averted mine and pretended she doesn't exist.

"Let's go" she said softly and pointed to the direction we were going to take, I waved to Lavinia and followed after Rhea. Her taller figure was blocking my sight so I fastened my pace so I can walk by her side.

"There's a back entrance we'll be using, it's better" I said looking at the woman, without saying a word she nodded and gestured for me to lead the way.

When we reached the trench I realized that the plank was on the other side and we can't cross without it since it's impossible to jump over.

"What now?" Rhea said, I sighed and scratched my forehead frustrated. I didn't know why my thoughts were clouded, and I couldn't think of anything else but her arm around me. I shouldn't be thinking about this right now...

"Marissa?" She called in a worried tone, I blinked a couple of times to wake up from my day dream and found her standing right in front of me. Very close...
