Chapter 18

Lavinia

Venus has been acting weird lately, I don't know what's going on with her but it's been more than a week and she looks so tired even though I send her to bed earlier than before. In the morning she's always so cold and never looks me in the eyes.

"Venus?" I called her name but she didn't respond, her eyes were staring into the unknown and she seemed deep in her thoughts. I put my hand on her shoulder and shook her a little to catch her attention.

"Hm?" She jumped a little and turned to look at me, her eyes finally meeting mine after a long week of not seeing their beautiful color.

"Are you alright?" I asked worriedly, she cleared her throat and looked away. No don't look away from me...

"Eh..yeah I'm good." She replied softly, I took the time she wasn't paying attention to take her in. She seemed so tense like she's been struggling with something, or she's been bothered by something or someone.

"Come here" I demanded, I was sitting on the bed and she was standing in front of me with her back facing me. She looked at me for a moment wondering what I was asking her that then made her way closer.

She sat next to me on the bed her eyes focused on the balcony, it was night and I'm guessing she just wants to go to bed. I sat up and went behind her, I slowly started untying the laces of her shoulder armor. I felt her hand grab mine to prevent me from going any further.

"What are you doing, your majesty?" She asked softly, I pushed her hand away rolling my eyes at her and kept untying the armor. When her shoulders were finally exposed, I grabbed a vial next to the bed and poured a bit of scented oil on my hand.

"I'm guessing someone upset you, or said something to you that's why you've been acting weird lately..." I said looking at the scars on her back, my hands landed on her warm skin and my fingers pushed on the sore muscles on her shoulders and I heard her groan in satisfaction.

"I'm not going to ask you to tell me what's going on, I'm just going to help you relax a little...okay?" I leaned closer so I can whisper it to her, she hummed and nodded in agreement. I smiled at her reaction and let my hands do the work, I massaged behind her neck, on her the muscles between her neck and shoulders and even the top part of her back.

"Your hands are doing wonders..." She mumbled making me chuckle, when I thought it was enough I pulled my hands back and stood up so I can go wash the oil off so it won't stain the bed sheets but hand grabbed my wrist and pulled me back to her.

I was standing between her legs while she just stared at me with those pretty eyes, she pulled me to her making me straddle her lap and let's not forget that her upper body was naked and I couldn't help but stare at her boobs.

I felt her fingers touch my chin and gently pull my face closer to hers, her soft lips landed on mine in a gentle kiss and I couldn't help but lean into it. Her other hand laid on my thigh and softly caressed it making me forget why I stood up in the first place.

"Thank you, for this..." She whispered against my lips when she pulled away from the kiss, her eyes were so gloomy and she seemed to always have a grey cloud following her wherever she went. I put my hands on her face and let my thumbs brush on her eyebrows to stop the frown.

"Tell me what's wrong Venus...please. So I can help you" I begged her because I didn't want to see her like this, I missed her happy and enthusiastic self that makes me smile.

"You can't help me Lavinia" she sighed deeply and looked down, I pecked her lips and let my hands brush her hair back and gently play with it.

"Then what is it, that's been bothering you. This thing that I can't help you with, tell me" I pressured and she didn't seem to like it at all.

"You can't bring my mother back from the dead Lavinia" she said in a cold voice, her hands gripped my waist and picked me up off of her lap. She started putting her armor back but her hands were shaking and she couldn't do it correctly.

"Let me" I said but she just kept on trying making me sigh, I grabbed her arm roughly and pulled her down so she can sit back on the bed.

"I can do i-" she started but I quickly cut her off,

"Shhh" she stayed quiet until I was done putting her armor back, she cleared her throat and stood up. I watched her internally struggle with herself, I'm guessing she wants to say something but she doesn't know how to do it. I leaned closer to her pecking her lips and smiled.

"I'm sorry for your loss, Venus. If you told me earlier, we would've given her a presentable funeral." I kissed her cheek and watched as her eyes filled with tears but they weren't on me, they were just staring blankly behind me.

"It's okay Venus, you can't be strong all the time. Sometimes you just need to give in and let it happen." I whispered and watched her struggle to hold her tears in, I wrapped my arms around her shoulders and she couldn't hold her sobs anymore, she laid her face on my shoulder while her hands gripped on my dress for dear life.

"I'm here for you..." I whispered softly, when she was feeling better she pulled away from me and I smiled at her rosey cheeks and reddish eyes. She looked so adorable.

"Thank you" she whispered,

"I have to go now, your majesty" she bowed and hurriedly left the room leaving me confused about the sudden change in behavior. I sat down on the bed confused. I'll go check on her because her reaction was so weird.

I wrapped my gown around my body and got up making my way out of the room. It was dark and chilly outside but I won't be taking long.

When I finally reached the section where her room was, I noticed someone leaving her bedroom wearing a long cloak. They were the same height as Venus and they were wearing the same armor.

"Where is she going?" I asked but not loud enough for her to hear, I can't follow after her only wearing this gown it's too dangerous. Why would she leave the castle this late at night? Is that why she rushed out of my room? And who showed her the way out in the first place? Is she betraying me?

Since I'm already here I decided to go to Diana's room, I pushed the door open and walked in the dark room making my way to the bed.

"Who are you?!" The voice said behind me, I felt a cold object on my back making me flinch in surprise.

"It's just me Diana" I said to my daughter who was standing behind me with a knife to my back.

"Mother?" She said confused putting the knife away, I turned to look at her and she was staring at me with a worried look.

"I couldn't sleep so I came here" I said sitting on the bed, Diana smiled happily and walked to me then climbed on the bed next to me.

My daughter cuddled to my side and fell into a deep slumber while I couldn't catch any of it because my head wouldn't stop bringing up Venus' subject and her leaving the castle in the middle of the night.

I have to find out what's going on with her and where does she go...

I don't know what happened with the last chapter, Wattpad decided to be a bitch and not send notifications to the readers. Anyways, here's a chapter. I know it's not the best but it's part of the storyline.
