A silence filled Sophia's ears as they walked in what seemed like the right direction. Of course, the smell of roses enticed the three of them forward, but it was strange. A strange sound echoed through the sewer, stopping Ildy in his tracks.
A shiver was forced upward through Sophia's spine as a groaning sound bounded through the sewer. Then, after that, the sound of what sounded like a rock, smashing onto the floor. A laugh echoed through the sewer at the same time.
This was something only in horror movies, Sophia thought. Suddenly, as she thought this, the lights flickered off, and the three of them were left in the darkness.
"What... Hey guys, you-." Sophia was cut off.
"Hulbis." Ildy cast an orb of light, which filled up the sewer, but now something was off.
Mya sighed and looked at both with reassurance. Off in the distance, something groaned once more.
"Do we... head towards it?" Ildy said, unsure.
"That is the way towards the castle," Sophia said, staring into the darkness.
"I guess... it's decided then." Ildy started walking, forcing the others to follow suit.
"Hey, why don't we just sneak in? We can still leave the sewer." Mya said urgently.
"What, are you scared?" Ildy said it arrogantly.
"Wha- No!? You're the one who should be scared!" Mya yelled angrily.
"Scared of a fireball? Things have changed, this is the fastest way for me to get where I need to go." Ildy said sternly.
"Oh..." Mya quieted down.
Ildy walked, Mya by his side and Sophia behind. While the light lit up part of the tunnels, the darkness in front of him still unnerved him. Another groan bounded into his ears, almost making him stop, but he kept going. Whatever was in front of him would just be a stepping stone for him. A hallmark on his way to curing himself.
He suddenly stopped, looking to his side, into an open room. The lights had been shut off, but he could hear breathing. He turned to Sophia and Mya.
"Were here." He gripped his fist.
Mya gulped, and Sophia pulled out the small, drive-like device. Mya slipped the wand out of her pocket and held it tight.
"Ready?" Ildy said, ready to enter.
"S-sure." Mya stuttered. Sophia nodded.
Ildy entered first, casting a spell. "Hulsphis." Suddenly, runes formed all over his arms, and the ball of light that they had been using tripled in size.
The room lit up, revealing most of what was inside. The ceiling rose, and something made Ildy shudder. Mya dropped to the ground and puked. Sophia supported her side and kept herself from throwing up.
A massive amalgamation lay in front of them. A creature of unknown origin. A mass of faces, flesh, and other bodily pieces. It sat in the middle of the room, towering 30 feet in height, pressing against the ceiling. Bodily fluids sept out of it at the bottom, making the room... Smell like roses?
Ildy's jaw dropped as he saw the massive abomination. He saw the faces of the dead reaching out for mercy. The light drew its attention, its many eyes making direct contact with the three of them. Bones stuck out of its sides, and mouths covered every side of its body, also seeping strange liquids.
To his right were some stairs leading to a door. Everything in the room was a grey-purple brick that didn't reflect much light. The floors, no longer made of tile, had decayed and shrunk.
