Shutters of grey burned through cracked eyelids...

Blurs of greys seeping through like painful bright light...

I can't...it's so bright...

Black as the shutters closed...then opened...blurry and indistinguishable...the greys dark and light blobs of fractions, they were a faded picture that needed time to focus on...

Eternity could've passed...

A drum through the air, blurred and faded...

Am I still...

The shutters closed and open, faster this time...everything felt tense...tight...solid...weighed down like stone...But was that-

Is that red?

Blinking as the greys faded, shimmered, colour bleeding through ever so slowly with every shallow breath, eyes burned hotly and stung as light seeped through too bright but unable to look away as colour soaked through...reds...pinks, white, gold...greens...blues...

I'm...waking up?

A hum of movement and tensing as colours shifted and moved too swiftly to be normal, a darker sharp looming overhead, fading into a familiar face as a voice hummed distortedly like they were speaking while dragging her out of the water.

...hear me...?

What?

Blinking, gasping for much needed air that had been difficult to take in for goodness knows how long but...

"Gave us quite a scare you did."

The face looming over her faded into a mop of white hair and smug like blue eyes as a friend gazed down at her with a bright grin. She frowned, a soft groan escaping her as she shivered from the sudden cold.

"Welcome back, my lady."
