Mark runs to her side sniffling as tears covered his face and hugs her tightly.
"Thank god.. Thank god.."He repeats in a desperate tone.
"Why did you do that..?" He asks sounding betrayed, but his wife Jina, quickly shushes him. "Mark, your sister just woke up from a coma you can't just ask her that.."
The doctors interrupt their moment to take a look at Diane, who had only remained silent ever since, observing her surroundings.
Hours pass, Mark has already calmed down and is sitting by Diane's side.
"It will take you a while to recover.. But we'll be by your side through it all."
"I don't know if you heard me.. But I tried talking to you everday, to make you hold on to life." Diane's eyes widden, as she remembers the last conversation she had with her brother and how he told her that it was real..
Everything is starting to make more sense now.
Days go by as Diane gradually gets better and regains her awarness.
Luckily, she hasn't suffered much physical damage.
After a week, she now can stay awake for a longer time.
Her brother and his family are still by her side taking turns to take care of her.
She still hasn't said much, but her mind is full of all kinds of chaos.
Fortunately, she still remembers that special dream she had with all its details.
***
Two months have already passed, Diane is finally back at home.
She's a lot better now but not fully recovered.
Her brother and his family are still with her.
She's currently in her room, writing something on her diary.
She hears knocks on her door.
"Diane, here's your lunch." Jina, her brother's wife puts a tray full of tasty food infront of her.
"Thank you, Jina."
"My pleasure, dear.." She seems like she wants to talk about something else.
"What is it?"
"There's something your brother and I want you to consider."
"What is it..?" This time she sounds slightly nervous.
" We want you to come with us, to Germany." Diane only blinks at her and doesn't answer.
"Take your time, we'll further discuss this with Mark later." She gets up and leaves the room.
Diane stars into space hesitantly.
It's already the evening, Diane hears her brother calling her for dinner.
As they gather around the table, Mark brings up the subject again.
"Jina told you, right?"
"Yeah."
"So.. what do you think?"
"I'm still tired, Mark. It's not the right time for this topic."
"It is." He pauses to take a deep breath then continues " You know we're going back soon. I can't just leave you here all by yourself. I did before and I'm not gonna repeat the same mistake twice."
"But I don't want to."
"Why?"
"Do you want me to just live with you and your family? You need your privacy and I need mine. And I don't wanna be a burden."
"Who said you were gonna stay with us?" Diane looks at him questionabbly waiting for an explanation.
"You're gonna continue your education. But in a different college. Drop out of this one, and I'm gonna register you in a private art college there instead. I heard good things about it and I know you're more passionate about that than your current major. Of course, you're gonna live in the dorms. Or maybe rent a house nearby, whatever you want."
" I don't know Mark.." She's clearly hesitant and taken aback.
"It's fine, take your time."
"But thank you.. for thinking about me. For everything." He smiles at her warmly.
Diane later spends the whole night thinking about her brother's suggestion and considering all the possibilities.
She also remembers all the advice and wise words she heard in her dream.
She finally decides.
