Diane walks around campus as she holds hands with the girl who's supposed to be her bestfriend in this dream universe.
"So about your crush, Gilbert.
He asked me about you yesterday."
"Gilbert did?" Diane exclaims while internally laughing at herself. As if she even knows who Gilbert is. This dream is starting to get funny.
How sad it is, that she can only experience excitement like this in dreamland.
" He just asked me about your name, but that's progress too! It means he noticed you and he's interested."
"Uhm.. yay?" Diane pretends to be excited, her friend rises her eyebrow at her suspiciously.
"You sound so strange today."
" Really? How do I usually sound?"
"Bright, confident, happy.. I don't know, just not like this. Are you okay?"
Bright, confident AND happy? What a joke. That is nothing like the real Diane.
But it seems like everything is the way Diane wishes it to be in this dream, since that's what she always wanted to sound like.

If only this was reality..

The bell rings, all the students are now going to their classes.
"Am I really going to actually attend a class? How long is this dream going to be?" Numerous questions pile up in her mind.
Her friend pulling her hand snaps her out of her thoughts.
"Hurry up or we're gonna be late, you know Mrs Summers won't allow us to attend even if we're only one minute late!"
"Wait, what class are we going to attend?"
"Diane, are you for real?" Carolyn stands in disbelief.
" I.. It may be because I drank too much in that party last night.. "
"I will text you the schedule."
She hears a notification sound coming from her purse, so she gets her fancy phone out and checks the message.
"Creative writing class?" She finally realizes.
"Yes, Diane. You're majoring in english literature, if you also forgot your major."
Diane smiles trying to hide her sorrow, as her dream has always been to be a writer.
Books and literature have always been one of her few escapes from her dissapointing reality.
Her biggest regret is not following her dream and choosing a scientific major instead.

If only this was reality..

Morning quickly passes as she attends her classes, still in awe at how real everything feels.
The professor even scolded her for zoning out.
She's now heading to the cafeteria to have lunch.
They sit in a table with two other girls giving off different vibes, one has short black hair and an intimidating gaze, the other has medium length blond hair and a cute smile. Those two must be Amy and Sarah.
"So how did your date with Jason go?" Carolyn asks as she wiggles her eyebrows at Amy.
"It was awful. He was lame as hell so I just left." Amy tells them while shrugging.
"As expected from the ice queen herself! Poor Jason."
"Poor, my foot! No one told him to be that off putting."
"Guys, just ignore her. Diane, I hope you liked my humble birthday present." Sarah speaks giving off super friendly vibes.
"Your present..? Yee- Yeah of course. How did you know I needed that?" Diane manages to say.
"Everyone needs a butterfly shaped pillow Diane!"
They all laugh at Sarah's enthusiastic response.
"Okay, enough chitchat let's get to the real issues."
"Gilbert actually approached me to ask about Diane's name yesterday. Told ya he was interested in her. I'm the best at figuring out guys!" Carolyn adds proudly.
"I'm sure he's gonna ask her out soon. He's been staring at her for a while now." Amy blurts.
"Don't ditch us when you start dating him though!" Sarah playfully adds.
"Let's not jump to conclusions girls. We still don't know whether he likes me or not.." Diane tries to calm them down.
She's not used to all this attention from others after all.
And how long has it been since she actually had a crush on anyone..?
This all feels so strange.
This dream is the opposite of her actual reality.. If only it was real.
She gets lost in her thoughts again, but when she finally looks up her eyes meet another's gaze.
This person may have the most beautiful eyes she has ever seen..

No way.. is that.. Gilbert ?
