"She's an airhead but I like her" Paige said.
"That's super cool." I said and she burst out laughing. I laughed through my sobs trying to be ok again.
"It'll be ok. Paige said protectively holding me.
Chapter 6
*BEEP BEEP BEEP BE- CRASH*
I jolted up at the sound of the crash. I was used to the alarm, but I never got used to Paige throwing it on the floor every morning since we were kids.
My eyes were still puffed up from crying last night. I sat up on the bed. There were empty cartons of ice cream on the floor. I sighed reminiscing on last night.
"How could I let a guy turn me into a total wreck? I'm an idiot" I asked out loud expecting an answer. When I didn't receive one I sighed in defeat and got out of bed.
Paige didn't have class today but I decided to take the bus rather than bothering her.
I dragged myself all the way to work. The bus ride was long, but it gave me time to relax. I sat with my headphones in blocking out the world.
Work was long as usual and I was grateful that there were no incidents today. I stood there mindlessly dealing out cards. I was even happier that I hadn't seen Chase yet. Although, I couldn't let go of the feeling that I hadn't seen the last of him.
My shift was over at 8 and I walked to the bus stop in the dark and sat on the bench near the bus stop. Paige should be home by now maybe I can get a ride.
I pulled out my phone and called Paige but all I got was her voicemail.
"Hey Paige it's Sheilah. When you get this please call me. I need a ride." When I hung up I noticed the car that had parked itself in front of me while I was distracted.
"Get in. I'll give you a ride" said the all too familiar voice in the all too recognizable car. I turned my head ignoring Chase.
"Look I get that you're mad, but you can't stay out here. The bus will take forever." Chase looked at me concerned. I kept my face turned trying to resist but I eventually quit.
I reluctantly got into the car.
"So. How have you been?" Chase asked. I sat with my head high and my arms crossed.
"Nice to see that you're handling this like an adult" Chase said sarcastically.
"I'm glad you find this entertaining" I mumbled.
"I don't at all." Chase said suddenly tensing up. I would've cared if I wasn't so upset. Chase took a left turn.
"Um, you're going the wrong way. You were supposed to turn right." I said slightly annoyed that he'd already forgotten where I live.
"I know. We're going somewhere." Chase said.
"The hell we are! You're taking me home." I said outraged.
"Just relax." Chase said trying to soothe me.
"Relax? Relax! This is kidnapping, now take me home!" I demanded.
Chase didn't answer. He kept driving in the same direction.
"Chase. Turn. Around." I protested. Still no response.
"Stop the car." I said firmly. He didn't comply.
"Stop the car dammit!" I screamed banging my fist on the dashboard.
He came to a screeching halt that scared me and made my body jerk forward. The car behind us quickly avoided a collision and flipped us off.
"What the hell? Are you psycho!" I screamed. Chase was extremely upset. There were veins popping out of his face and his fist were tightly clenched on the steering wheel.
