Making the Worst of a Good Situation

Surprise?

"Please don't destroy the house." I begged Paige as she dropped me off at the airport.

"Yea, yea, yea. You have fun now. Don't be a stick in the mud." Paige said. I smiled at her crude comment.

"I'll do my best not to." I said. Paige grabbed my arm before I left.

"You're ready for this. You deserve this." She said. I hugged her and exited the car and headed towards the airport terminal where Chase was waiting for me.

Chapter 10

"I've never flown first class before." I said to Chase taking in the huge cabin, giant screen showing a movie, oversized seats, and giant d'oeuvres. Even the view from out of the window was more magnificent in first class.

"I'm glad you're enjoying everything" Chase said chuckling at me.

"What's so funny?" I asked feeling vulnerable.

"Nothing. I'm just glad you're here with me." he said placing his hand on mine and kissing my forehead.

"Sheilah." Chase whispered in my ear "Wake up we're here." 

I opened my eyes and Chase and I got off of the plane, grabbed our luggage, and stood outside of the Las Vegas airport.

"Our limo should be here soon." Chase said 

"Limo." I said "Good to know"

When the limo came the drive got our bags and we sat in the back.

"What?" I asked when I noticed that Chase was staring at me.

"Are you okay?" he asked concerned.

"I'm fine" I said quickly. Concern was etched on Chase's face. He scooted closer to me.

"Talk to me." he said. I guess now was a good time as ever to talk about it.

"This all just so overwhelming. The flight, the limo, I mean this whole trip. I've never done something like this. With anybody." I admitted

"Well there's a first time for everything." he said squeezing my shoulder. I smiled and was glad that I was there with him. 

The limo pulled up to the gorgeous hotel.

"This is it" Chase said excited as he hopped out of the car. I cautiously followed.

"This is it?" I said in awe. Chase didn't hear me though. He'd already walked up to the check-in desk. I followed him and he turned towards me.

"We're on the top floor" he said. I smiled and he held my hand as he headed towards the elevator.

The elevator ride was quick and we were on the top floor in no time. My heart was thumping at the thought of Chase and me alone in a hotel room together. He walked up to the suite door and turned to me.

"I almost forgot. Here's your room key. Your room is right next to me." he said as he handed me the key.

"We... we have separate rooms." I said relived.

"Well of course." Chase said perplexed. I laughed off my nervousness and tried to explain myself to my poor confused Chase.

"I just thought we had to sleep together. I mean not that I don't want to it's just... You know a girl doesn't go on a vacation with a guy unless they're... Well you know." I rambled

"Yeah.... Sure" Chase said looking at me confused and slightly amused. "If you want us to be in the same room though I have no problem with that." he said smiling slyly. I smiled at him coyly and kissed him softly while I took my room key and headed to my room.

My breath was taken away when I saw my room. The suite was at least 3 times as big as my apartment. The whole room look like it was just a picture of a catalogue for Better Living. The room came complete with a bar and kitchen area, a bedroom with the biggest, plushest bed I've ever seen, there was even a living room. I didn't think the room could get any better until I walked into the bathroom.

The tub was amazing. I could've swam in it if I wanted to. I stared at it in a trance which was broken by a knock at the door.

"Do you like the room?" Chase asked when I opened the door.

"Can I live here?" I asked only partially kidding. He laughed

"I'm glad you like it. You ready to go?" he asked.

"What go where? We just got here." I said confused

"It's a surprise." he said grinning devilishly "Come on." he grabbed my hand and tried to lead me out of the room but I pulled back.

"Wait let me change." I didn't know where we were going but I didn't want to show up in jeans.

"No. You're perfect." he said and le pulled me out of the room before I had a chance to protest anymore."

The limo drove us to horse stables somewhere out in the wilderness.

"Where are we?" I asked as the limo pulled off and left us in what seemed like the middle of nowhere.

"Howdy" said the young buff handsome cowboy that emerged from the stables. He couldn't have been a day over 19.

"Y'all must be with the group." he said chewing on a piece straw. "Follow me and I'll get you folks saddled up." he said as he walked in the direction of the stables.

"Group?" I asked Chase.

"Alright. I didn't tell you" he said "This week is actually a bunch of events for charity that my family does every year."

"Your whole family is here?" I asked wide-eyed. I already had issues with Chase's dad 

"Well yes" he admitted sheepishly as if this was cute. I was terrified and he must have seen it in my face. "Don't worry." he said wrapping his arm around me and walking towards the stables.

The stables were full of all of Chase's family members. He introduced me to most of them and then we reached his father.

"Chase. Sheilah." he said looking at me slightly shocked "I didn't know you were coming." he said forcing a smile.

"I told you I was bringing a date father." Chase said.

"Oh. I thought you meant Kai." he said trailing off.

"Why would I mean her?" Chase asked now angry.

"I'm sorry" his dad said seeming seriously as confused as I was by this situation. "I just assumed. She's over there" he said pointing.

"She's here!" Chase said. His eyes popping out of his head.

"I'm here." purred a soft voice. I beautiful Native American woman appeared at Chase's side. She had soft gorgeous features and looked like a model. She placed her hand on Chase's shoulder and kissed him lightly on the cheek before he could realize what was happening.

"Who is this?" I asked angrily as I crossed my arms and tapped my foot waiting for an answer.

"Why I'm Chase's fiancé." she said smiling at grimly.
