For two days, I stewed about the baby situation, feeling bitter and angry about it. Pulling his number up, I wanted to call him and give him a piece of my mind, but there was no point. Like I told Alexi, it was his choice, and I had no say in that, not that I ever did.
Setting the phone down on the bed where I was snuggled with the dogs, I reached for my laptop, only to have my phone go off. Yanking the bloody thing up and not checking the caller ID. I answered.
"Hello?"
"Oh, thank god. Theo—-"
"Ew. What the hell do you want?"
"There's been a mistake and well—--You should just come to the hospital. I think that's for the best."
"Why? What the hell do I—--"
"Theo, please, I'm begging you. It's really important."
"Fine. But I fucking swear this better not be just so you can—--"
"Huh? What? I didn't catch the last bit of what you said?"
"That's fine. It wasn't important."
"Are you coming?"
"Yeah, god, hold on. I'll be there shortly."
For my safety, I messaged Luca and let him know Marco wanted to meet up at the hospital and I was going. He responded right away and told me to keep him updated. I told him I would and made sure I had all my things and the dogs were fine before I left for the stupid hospital.
Demitri called as I pulled into the hospital and I answered him after I turned the car off.
"Hello, Demitri."
"Theo, Luca told me you were at the hospital with your ex. If you need anything, let us know."
"I'm alright, you can relax. I'm not sure what he needs, but he clearly needed something and made it clear he needed me here"
"Just keep us updated, please."
"Is there an order that you would like me to update you both, you before Luca or Luca before you?" I teased..
"It doesn't matter, in the slightest, just update us."
"Ok, ok, I will. I'm heading inside now. I'll text you and let you know what is going on when I know more."
"Alright."
He hung up, and I headed inside, and Marco was pacing the front of the hospital. I didn't even have time to say hello to him. He just started speaking, on and on, about how happy he was to see me and how they fucked up and I was going to be pissed.
"Calm down Marco, I've never seen you like this. What the hell is going on?"
He grabbed my hand roughly at first, lessening his grip as he went along, yanking me behind him. Finally, once we reached the birthing floor, he let go of me and I crossed my arms in annoyance.
"Theo, I swear I didn't bring you here just to show you my son. I need to explain something to you and maybe backup, in case you lose your shit. But you have a daughter."
"I'm glad you have a son lucky—--wait... excuse me?"
"Now, I need you to really listen to me, because oh boy, I fucked up."
"You better explain to me what the hell is going on."
"Now, um.. When things with us were over, and you were avoiding me, a couple months before the divorce, I spoke with a surrogate and signed papers for a child to be born, an heir for me. I knew things with us were ending, or just getting bad and I don't know..."
