Walking around the house was definitely weird. Looking at all my things in the space again left me feeling pretty strange. Demitri definitely picked up on it. He came up behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist.

"Are you alright?"

"Yeah, it's going to take a hot minute to be comfortable in this house like this. I understand it's ours, but shit."

"We have unpacking to do, remember you promised Emerson and Maddox you would take Ares for the night, so they could have some alone time." Demitri chuckled.

"I'm still shocked he asked me. It's odd." I muttered.

"He is walking, chaos. Luca has no clue what he is in for." Demitri said, an amused look on his face.

"And you do?"

"I've been around Ares."

"Apparently, I pissed Alexi off too, because I'm taking Ares. He wanted to watch him."

"Maddox and Emerson picked Alexi and Creed to be his godparents. You can't blame the man." Demitri said.

"Really? I had no clue."

"It's not really talked about, but yeah, Alexi and Creed are his godparents. If anything happens to Maddox, Creed and Alexi, are responsible for taking his place and raising the boy alongside Emerson. To take over the family."

"I really had no clue, I should have as the family—--He went to a different lawyer. He wanted to keep details of his son away from me."

"I can't speak to that, but that is likely. You two haven't been the closest." Demitri said, resting his chin on my shoulder.

"Yes. You're absolutely right. I am grateful he trusts me enough to watch his child. I never thought it would ever get to be this way." I said, leaning back into Demitri, enjoying his touch. "When do you think Luca will be back?"

"Alessio wanted him to come over for an in person meeting before they take off for their own alone time."

"Must be nice to have a private island."

"Your house isn't enough? You want an island now?" Demitri laughed.

"Truthfully, no. That's far too much fucking work. My house is enough."

"You sure? A few weekends and I can get you a tiny island—-"

"Nope, your weekends are mine."

"Mmm, is that so?"

"Yes, and you know it."

He let me go after pressing a kiss to the side of my head.

"I'm off to wake up our daughter. I want squishy baby time." He said, walking away.

Corinna was in the living room in the playpen, and the dogs were probably right there, too. They were always close by. Sighing, I finished unpacking the kitchen stuff and looked around. It was less like what it had been before. Demitri's coffeepot on the counter, Luca's annoyingly expensive toaster that we didn't need, Corinna's bottle warmer and our three cups clean and on the windowsill for us to use. It made this place feel like home already.

Demitri had Sasha come a couple of days before to set up a top of the line security system. I felt safe here, even more so with Hunt and Hero. They would attack a stranger in a heartbeat if they broke in. They had been on guard with Sasha when he got in the SUV at the complex. They didn't eat him, but they watched him, until Demitri told them he was alright and to relax.

Heading to the living room, Demitri was relaxed on the couch with the baby laying on his chest, while he was texting. He was texting quickly too, and it was a long message.
