I expected Demitri to leave once Alessio started. But he didn't. Whatever it was that Alessio gave me made me really want to talk. Alessio cut my pant leg all the way up and around.
"You should go help Theo and the baby." I said.
"Theo is fine, as is the baby."
"Seriously, you should. I will be just fine. Alessio is capable of fixing me up."
"I know he is."
"I do really think you should—--"
"This is caused by the shot you gave him, yes?" Demitri asked.
"Oh, absolutely." Alessio said, still cleaning the area around. I couldn't feel any of it, just his touch on my skin. That was it.
"Alright, Demitri, there's a stool over there, pull it up to the end of the bed and keep Luca's attention."
"You know I can hear you, right?"
"You're supposed to be able to. But I don't want you watching any of this. It's not going to be even remotely nice to watch." Alessio said.
Demitri got the stool and wheeled it to the end of the bed where my head was, and sat down. He brought his arms up and tilted my head back so that I was looking at him. I felt guilty about some things and was going to tell him, but I couldn't. He had his fingers laced together under my chin, preventing me from talking.
"Everything is alright Luca, I just don't want you talking too much and distracting Alessio. Whatever you want to say can wait."
Keeping quiet was killing me. I just wanted to speak to him. When I felt Alessio yank the piece of glass out of my leg, I went rigid. I tried to look, but Demitri kept my head right where it was.
I didn't know how long Alessio was poking around inside my leg, but it felt like forever before he started the stitches. Demitri took his hands off my chin and ran his fingers through my hair. Alessio put the last stitch in.
"There now I just need to—--"
"Demitri! Where the hell is he?" I perked up at the sound of Theo.
"Why the hell is he here?" I hissed.
"I don't know. I never told him."
Demitri got up and went and got Theo. They were having a heated argument just outside the curtain. Theo yanked the curtain open. Looking at him, he looked relieved to see me.
"Hi." I said.
"Why the hell didn't you or Demitri tell me you got into an accident? I shouldn't have to find out from Maddox that the reason I was at his wing was because Demitri was down here with you, because you got into an accident."
"To be fair, I didn't even want Demitri knowing but someone, and by someone, I mean Alessio. His husband, Lev, tattled to Demitri about it."
Theo crossed his arms before he spoke.
"Did you just honestly tell me that you weren't going to tell either of us?"
"Yes."
"Luca, I'm going to wring your bloody fucking—---"
"Theo, Luca didn't mean—--"
"I did though." I said, cutting Demitri off.
Theo was angry. He sat down on the stool where Demitri had been and yanked my head back. He was angrily petting my head.
"Theo, it's not anything against—--"
"Shut your mouth, Luca. I might feel the need to do it for you if you don't."
