Ares was crying as Luca was buckling him into the car seat. He was acting like he was never going to see Luca again.
"Ares, You will come back." I said, but he didn't hear me over his own screaming. Luca closed the back door and Ares just kept screaming. Luca sighed and spoke.
"Let me get my coat and shoes and I'll come too."
Luca was supposed to be working from home today. Demitri left earlier this morning to head to the complex. Ares was up and down all night long, and finally only settled down after Luca laid with him on the couch for the rest of the night. Corinna was in her car seat in the back, quiet. I knew she wasn't sleeping with Ares' whaling, but at least she wasn't adding to it.
Luca locked the door and got into the SUV. Ares stopped crying once Luca shut his door, and I was very thankful for that. I looked at Luka and silently thanked him. Ares was glued to Luca all morning. I blamed Demitri for that after he got after Ares for flinging his dinner all over.
"Remind me that we are not to have any more children until Corinna is well out of the toddler stage." Luca said, keeping his voice low.
"My thoughts exactly." I muttered.
The drive was quiet until we got to the complex, then Ares started getting loud again. But it didn't help that Maddox was outside having a conversation with someone. Parking, Ares was kicking my seat. He wanted out so badly. Luca walked around the SUV and let him out, and grabbed his bag from the back. Maddox was already making his way over, and Ares ran to him.
He picked Ares up and walked over to the SUV.
"How was Ares?"
"He was a little bad—-Ouch!" I hissed as Luca drove his elbow into my ribs.
"Demitri already told me." Maddox chuckled.
Getting Corinna and her car seat out, I tucked it over my forearm.
"Excuse me, I have a baby to show to Alexi. Bye Ares, thanks for the sleepover."
I walked fast, not wanting to bump into my other lover. Or else I was going to lose the baby. The problem was, Alexi and Creed's office was right diagonally to Sasha and Demitri's. Knocking on the door, it opened and Alexi yanked me inside.
"Did he spot you?"
"He? As in?" I asked.
"Your lover, the one across the hall."
"Not that I am aware of."
"Good. Good. I get baby time."
Creed just shook his head from his desk. "One of these days, this kind of baby fix just won't cut it." Creed said, looking at me.
"Don't put that out there." Alexi hissed, missing the meaning behind what Creed was saying.
I set the car seat on the couch, and Alexi was all over it. He pulled Corinna out and set her against his expensive suit.
"Careful, there's a blanket in the car seat, so she doesn't spit up on you."
"Eh, I'm not worried." Alexi said, paying more attention to Corinna than the conversation he was in.
I sat in Alexi's desk chair and looked at Creed. He was watching Alexi with Corinna and I had to ask.
"Do you want any kids?" I whispered, not wanting Alexi to hear me asking him. I was worried he might get irritated by my question on Creed's behalf. He paused, looking at Alexi before turning to me.
"Perhaps. Alexi is happy with either choice. But I know he is avoiding having children with me. He doesn't want to open old injuries." Creed said.
"Maybe tell him—---"
