Tamia Ford
That morning

"Mimi, get up."

"It's 8." I heard Yessenia speak softly while I squinted my eyes as the sun shined into her room brightly.

I couldn't help but to stretch my body out before yawning and looking around me. It was extremely bright as I sat up and covered my eyes. I ended up moving a little too quickly though as my head felt like a weight hanging onto my shoulders.

"Mm." I whined as my head began banging now and I laid my head back down against the pillow for a few moments, just to get it to stop.

"You good, sis?" Yessi laughed at me and I couldn't help but to smile as I nodded my head slowly.

"Yeah, I'm fine."

"I'm just hungover." I clarified.

"Same." She sighed heavily, drinking out a bottled water that was beside her bed now.

"Let me go make sure your crazy ass man isn't here."

"If he's not, you can just leave now."

"I do not need you getting caught up down here, Mi." She went on saying before she put her water bottle down and made her way out of the room now to go check.

"Yeah." I nodded in agreement, talking to myself now as I thought about Yasin and my next moves with him.

I'd been through a lot and after talking with my friends last night, I was starting to realize that maybe I was holding onto something for so long out of fear that had been placed into my head by my mother.

I was allowed to live my life the way I wanted to and I didn't have to stick by Yasin's side.

Money or no money.

Yes, I love him with my entire heart but he had way too many flaws that he wasn't willing to fix and I was tired of overlooking them when they effected me personally.

I just needed to do things that was best for myself for once and I was genuinely starting to believe that it was leaving him.

So that's what I was planning to do.

Whether he liked it or not.

"Oh my fucking God!" I instantly broke away from my thoughts as I heard Yessenia scream. When she did, I quickly sat up in the bed before standing to my feet once I heard hard footsteps coming quickly toward her room door.

Instantly she came bursting through the door and racing back into her room with the most frightened look on her face. She then screamed for me to get down as I stood there in shock.

"What?" I couldn't help but to say since I was so confused in the moment and as I did, almost immediately loud bangs began to crash throughout the house while my eyes went wide.

"Get down, Tamia!" She screamed to me again as she roughly pulled me down to the floor and what seemed like bullets flew through the walls and glass could be heard shattering everywhere while screams could be heard all downstairs.

"Ahh!" I heard Ms. Davis scream out loudly and I breathed out heavily, scared out of my mind and for my life.

The bullets didn't stop for what seemed like a very long time as they went on and on before they finally stopped.

Once they did, Yessenia and I continued to stay low, scared for it to happen all over again. We didn't want to move at all.

"Oh my God."

"What the fuck just happened?!" I yelled frantically now from the floor as Yessenia laid there on the ground beside me with tears in her eyes.

"Are you shot?" I asked her and she slowly shook her head no.
