not long after she had wrapped up her portion of the canoe painting and come up with a game plan with the team, midnight was free. moments after her thought, wednesday begins storming up to the girl. "i've looked for rowan everywhere and no luck. figured principal weems could give me some answers, if you'd like to join" the black-haired girl blurts. "why not" midnight states, following her sister.

"so the poe cup? what inspired that pursuit?" wednesday questions. "yoko asked if i could join the team, and i figured it would serve as a good distraction. besides, i'm sure i can beat bianca barclay" midnight states, looking to her twin with crossed arms. "didn't have much luck last time" wednesday retorts, midnight shooting daggers at her sister as the words leave her mouth.

following wednesday's comment, silence had settled between the girl prompting a rather quiet, tense walk. soon enough they arrive at weems's office, wednesday opening the door swiftly and storming in.

"we need to speak with rowan. we can't find him" wednesday declares, walking straight towards weems as midnight follows, much less determined. "it won't be possible, i'm afraid. he's been expelled" weems states, looking to the girls for a moment before returning her gaze to her computer.

"for what?" midnight questioned, genuinely confused of what he could have done. "never you mind. he'll be on the first train out this afternoon. what were you two doing out in the woods with him in the first place?" weems challenges.

"we told you already. we heard a noise, and went to investigate" wednesday states, weems chuckling. "that excuse may have placated the sheriff, but you can't fool me. wednesday, you had a psychic vision, didn't you?" weems begins, wednesdays face dropping.

"i realized you might be having them when we passed the accident and you knew that poor farmer had broken his neck. and midnight, i assume you too are having visions, or perhaps you can read other peoples minds. your mother started having visions around your age, and her sister always had a knack for knowing what everyone was thinking. those powers, however, were notoriously unreliable and dangerous."

"i remember at first, they thought they might be losing their minds. have you spoken to your mother about this?" weems adds, her voice questioning at the end. midnight and wednesday sit in silence, both shell-shocked. "clearly the person withholding information here is the two of you" she finished, the girls still quiet.

"may we go now?" wednesday questions. "not until each of you have picked your extracurricular activity. we want our students to be well-rounded" weems declares, wednesday crossing her arms. "we prefer to remain sharp-edged" wednesday assures, her features cold. "i took the liberty of putting together a list of clubs that have openings" weems states.

"how thoughtful" midnight blurts, looking at the long list. "you each need to have picked one by the end of the day. i'll be keeping my eye on you two. no doubt you'll find something that tickles your fancy" weems assures, looking to the girls. "the last person who tickled me lost a finger" wednesday states, the girls quickly leaving.

"weems is clearly trying to keep tabs on us, so we will separate to divert the attention. go to archery with xavier, see if you can squeeze any intel out of him. thing, keep an eye on rowan. don't let your fingers out of his sight" wednesday directs, thing scampering away as midnight softly nods, somewhat pleased with the task.

within less than 5 minutes she had arrived to the archery field, xavier shooting at the target (and hitting anything but the bullseye). as the boy shoots his arrows midnight walks up next to him, examining his form and shot. once the boy turns, a soft chuckle leaves his lips.

"you actually showed up. ever shot a bow and arrow before?" he questions, looking to her. "only on live targets" she states, half joking as the boy offers her a perplexed look. "okay" he starts, handing her the bow as he grabs an arrow.

the man begins to instruct her, correcting her form as he goes. "square stance" xavier states, softly adjusting her position with his hands on her shoulders. "load the arrow like this, yellow side out, and three fingers" he continues, his large hands guiding her much paler, smaller ones. although she refused to admit it, the contact shot sparks through midnights body.

"now pull back, and... let it fly" xavier mumbles as he lets go of her, the girl swiftly shooting a bullseye. "wow, that was... really good" the boy chuckles. "beginners luck, obviously" midnight jokes, looking to him with a soft smirk. "so, what's the deal with you and tyler?" xavier questions, midnight softly rolling her eyes.

"there is no deal, never has been or will be. wednesday asked him to drive us out of town" midnight states, somewhat irritated at his insinuation. "yeah, word of advice, steer clear" xavier declares, taking the bow from midnight to shoot the target ahead.

"why? cause he's a normie?" midnight asks. "cause tyler and his friends are a bunch of jerks. they can't stand that this schools the only thing propping up their podunk town. you shouldn't be hanging around those people" xavier states, his tone stern as he returns the bow to the girl, moments after handing her an arrow.

"you know, i heard you come from money. are you an elitist-snob or something? besides, it's not your business, now is it? not like you're my boyfriend or something, thorpe" midnight retorts, throwing an apple into the air before shooting it through the center and hitting the bullseye.

"ouch. you know, addams, even though my dad is famous that doesn't mean i'm a bad person. who said i'm anything like him?" xavier questions, looking down to her. "they say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. but maybe, just maybe, you could prove me wrong" midnight admits, handing him the bow.

"now i have some business to attend to, but this has been dreadful. looks like i've found my new extracurricular" midnight smirks, heading away in hopes of catching rowan before his departure. the girl begins walking through the halls, heading to the school entrance.

moments after arriving she sees the boy, running to him. "rowan, rowan! rowan we need to talk!" midnight yells, nearing the ghost himself. "midnight, im not allowed to speak to anyone" rowan states, quickly moving away from the girl.

"you had a lot to say the other night when you tried to kill me and my sister. told us we were destined to destroy the school, remember? where did you get that drawing? wednesday has been going crazy over it" midnight blurts, looking at him with wide eyes.

"i just went into the woods to clear my head. then you two came after me" rowan assured, offering her a innocent gaze. "midnight, you shouldn't be here" ms. thornhill states, glaring at her. "yeah, back off and leave me alone" rowan states, pressing a finger to midnights chest. as the girl pushes his arm away, thoughts of weems discovering rowan's body and shape shifting into the boy fill her mind.

although she tried to look unphased, the girl watched in disbelief as she contemplated the logistics of the information. was weems right? are these abilities, whatever the hell they may be, misleading? dangerous? and if they aren't, why would weems go to such extreme lengths to cover up the murder? it doesn't make any sense.
