𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐲-𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 // 𝐚 𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫

not long after finishing their meal, the two teens begin their commute to the dance. although there was a bit of unspoken tension, midnight couldn't help letting her guard down around xavier, resulting in constant jokes and chaos between the pair. as they head through the school and the surrounding area, xavier points out his favorite sights and recounts some of his memories from the campus, midnight listening with a curious ear.

while she tried her best to bury her feelings, she couldn't help the microscopic smile that clung to her lips whenever xavier was near. every new detail she learned of the boy made her mind run wild, and she couldn't help wanting to spend time with him. the thought makes her swiftly roll her eyes, focusing on the area around her.

soon enough they enter the school, the faint sound of music filling the air. "you excited, addams?" xavier questions, offering a smile. "oh, you know me. just thrilled" she retorts with a flat voice, the boy offering a small chuckle at her behavior. "i figured" he states, looking down at her as his thoughts run wild.

moments later xavier links his arm with midnights, offering the girl a smirk as they walk through the quad. "i cant believe i'm actually going to a high school dance" the girl admits, watching as the students in front of her enter the event. "me either. i guess you really like me" xavier jokes, midnight rolling her eyes. "in your dreams, thorpe" she retorts, offering a soft glare.

the duo walks up the stairs, ms. thornhill smiling at both of them. "you look gorgeous! so gorgeous! welcome to this years rave'n!" the woman exclaims, midnight looking to xavier with a flat, unamused expression. he merely laughs at the girl, pulling her softly into the dance.

several drapes with fairy lights line the entrance to the room, midnight letting out a quiet scoff at the sight. "this is so cliché, it's almost humorous" she admits, xavier shaking his head with a tiny grin. the two finally enter the area, principal weems offering an accomplished smirk. "welcome to the rave'n. glad to see you here, midnight" the woman smiles, midnight nodding as xavier pulls her towards the crowd.

"so, what should we do?" midnight questions, looking to the boy with a faintly confused face. "why don't you sit down, and i'll grab us some drinks?" xavier suggests, motioning her towards the tables. "i suppose that'll work"  the girl states, sitting down at the table and watching the room around her.

enid swiftly shuffles over, smiling at the addams girl. "hey midnight, you look gorgeous! where's your date?" enid questions, looking to midnight with a curious gaze. "he's just grabbing some drinks. and you look good too" midnight states, faintly curving her lip toward the girl. "so are you two dating, or?" the werewolf interrogates, midnight glaring at her.

"you don't waste any time, do you?" midnight retorts, the colorful girl shrugging her shoulders. "whatever. but no, we aren't dating" the addams girl adds, enid nodding swiftly. "i see. well, good talk" she smiles, shuffling away. the addams girl merely rolls her eyes, beginning to scan the room.

soon enough her gaze meets that of bianca, the siren glaring at midnight. rather than continue her normal hard expression, midnight faintly curves her lips, smirking at the angry girl. after a moment midnight swiftly pouts, pulling a finger down her cheek like a tear as she looks at the girl. bianca furrows her brows, swiftly turning to her friends.

within a few moments xavier returns, setting down the glasses. "a 'yeti-tini' for you, angel" the boy smirks, setting the glass down. in response midnight raises a brow, turning to the boy with a confused gaze. "that's a lot to unpack. what is this? and did you just call me 'angel?'" midnight questions, her gaze focusing on the artist.

"it's a yeti-tini, come on midnight. and what if i did?" xavier retorts, smirking at the girl. "i think we both know i'm far from angelic. besides, it's a little cheesy" midnight states, xavier swiftly rolling his eyes. "whatever you say, addams. so, could i interest you in a dance?" the boy questions, a soft smile on his lips. "dancing? to this song? what even is this?" midnight retorts, xavier chuckling.

"yes, dancing to this song. and i'm pretty sure it's lady gaga" he laughs, looking at the girl as he takes a sip of his drink. "fine. but you owe me thorpe" the girl sighs, taking a sip of her drink before getting up. "lead the way, princess" midnight jokes, offering a smirk as she puts an arm out for xavier. he swiftly glares at the girl, pulling her with him as he goes.

within a few moments they arrive on the dance floor, the two beginning to sway around a bit.  "you know, i don't really dance to this type of music" midnight admits, looking down for a moment. "well if it makes you feel better, i just don't really dance ever. i'm pretty rusty" xavier jokes, offering her a smile. "don't worry thorpe, i won't judge. well, not obviously at least" she smirks, moving her body around softly to the music as she stands ahead of the boy.

"you know, i'm really glad you came with me. i was honestly kind of worried you'd say no" he admits, a soft smile on his lips. "really? why would i?" she asks, faintly curving her brow as she looks at xavier. "well, i know that this type of event isn't really your scene, and i just wasn't sure if you genuinely liked me or not. besides, i figured after the whole wednesday thing you would never be seen with me" the boy blurts, looking down for a moment.

although the girl had a million things to say, she stops herself for a moment to consider her response. "well as we have discussed, i do like you, as shocking as that may be. and wednesday doesn't decide who i talk to, i do" midnight states, offering a soft smirk as she looks at the boy. despite his attempt to conceal it, a soft smile crosses the xavier's lips as the words leave her mouth.

moments later the song changes to love my way by the psychedelic furs, midnight softly tilting her head. "are they actually playing decent music, or am i hallucinating?" she questions, raising a brow at the boy. rather than respond he merely laughs, shaking his head. "you are brutal, addams" he jokes, the girl rolling her eyes.

midnight begins to somewhat let herself go, allowing her body to move to the music. her head softly sways as she dances, the girl shifting her focus to xavier for a moment. the boy was barely moving, seemingly focused on midnight and every move she made. "it's not nice to stare thorpe" she jokes, xavier quickly looking down as his cheeks flush.

"i'm just kidding, promise. i don't mind" she adds, moving closer to the boy as her gaze meets his. "just dance with me, thorpe. you were the one who asked in the first place" midnight whispers, softly swaying as her body makes faint contact with his. "you're such a piece of work addams" xavier mumbles, wrapping his hands around hers. "haven't i already told you to get a new line?" she jokes, the boy swiftly rolling his eyes.

"if it ain't broke, don't fix it" xavier states, looking at her with a cocky smile. "well, i'd say it's broke" midnight retorts, holding back a smile as she continues to move to the music. xavier let's out a soft sigh, merely shaking his head with a smile as he looks at the girl. "you're lucky you're cute" he states. "trust me thorpe, i'm much more" she smirks, moving a bit closer to the boy.

although the event surely wasn't her scene, midnight couldn't help but faintly enjoy her time with xavier. sure, teenagers are always annoying regardless of how you dress them up, but something about the night just felt... special. like it would truly be a night to remember, perhaps even one to cherish.
