ZAYNIE'S POV
What a lame excuse I chose to enjoy myself by Liam's discomfort. At least I can provide him a little more comfort here in my bedroom.
"Must have something around here." I put my half joint on the ashtray, so I can search on my low drawers.
"HNXXXGSHHH! HNXXXGSHHH!" I almost blessed him, but I could hear his breath hitching again. "HATSHHHH! HATSHHHH! HATSHHOOO!"
"Guess you're needing it too." I give him my Batman's tissue box. "Take a seat, feel free. I'll keep searching in my bathroom."
"Thanks, Zaynie."
It took a long time for me to find a medicine pack with exactly two pills. It's better than nothing. When I get back, I find Liam sitting on my bed, seeming half away from this planet, with a tissue in each hand and the box in his lap. It's worth mentioning that his mouth is half open. Blame me, but such a good vision.
"Liam?" I try to call without scaring him. His eyes open up slowly and, only from this close with a good lighting I can see how irritated they are. "Open your hand."
Liam obeyed, then I gave him a bottle of water. He seems very uncomfortable, can't tell if it's 'cause of his allergy attack or where we are at. Or 'cause of his allergy attack right where we are. Anyways, I sat by his side and started caressing his back like that day at the hospital.
"Whatever you need, just let me know." I recommend it.
"Can I use your toilet?"
"For sure. You can turn the lights on below the mirror."
Poor guy. Seems like we only meet when he's sick, but I confess that to take care of him brings me a warm heart, to give him my attention. Whether I like it or not, he looks vulnerable this way, and in my head it means that he cannot "act" to be who he isn't, besides, I like to pamper people - in a selective way, but I do.
That hospital day I can tell that I was kinda insecure about being at his house, once he lives by himself, and I even questioned myself if he would do something against me. It's not like he took some initiative, it was about self-care. Today the vibe is different, despite some similarities…
I can hear his explosive sneezes coming from the bathroom for a couple minutes, but what really worries me is when he starts to cough. It doesn't sound like a normal coughing, it persists in a continuous way and I have to knock on the door.
"Liam? Are you OK?"
After a while, the door is open and there he is. I can hear him breathing rapidly, besides his shoulders are up and down with more effort. My reflex is to touch his forehead, then his cheek and jaw. Seems like that coughing has gone, but he looks tired anyway.
"You good?" I ask again, guiding us back to bed.
Liam signals for me to wait, and I do, for sure, I even offer him more water and he accepts. But to keep waiting for so long makes me nervous, especially in a situation like this.
"Do you wanna go home?" I ask, understanding.
"No." He says immediately. "Just need a break."
"Wanna lay down? You can do it, take your shoes off too." I get up to take my Teddy bears out of pillows – I mean, I take them all on the floor.
Liam agrees then lies on his side, closing his eyes. Many minutes are passing and I start to think with half sure that he's asleep, but a big sneeze makes me change my mind.
